For five weeks in January-February, participants and ESOL experts can engage in collaborative, online discussion or hands-on virtual workshops of professional and scholarly benefit. These sessions will bring together participants for a longer period of time than is permitted by the four-day convention and will allow a fuller development of ideas than is otherwise possible in convention sessions.   Sessions may be on any topic in ESL/EFL and are free and open to all interested parties.   Session leaders (moderators), who must be TESOL members, will receive hands-on training in online discussion management and the use of virtual rooms, and they may be asked to help train future session leaders.   Moderators need not have previous experience in online teaching. Co-moderation with several people is strongly recommended.   Sessions of EVO must be sponsored by an Interest Section, Forum, or other member group of TESOL.

Those familiar with the definition of literature as interpretation of life would find in 'poetry' an interpretation of life through imagination and feeling. One chief characteristic of poetry which such a view helps to perpetuate is that poetry relates to our feelings and at the same time by the exercise of imaginative power transfigures existing realities. M. H. Hudson concludes his detailed study of poetry by pointing out "In our reading of poetry we should always remember that the poet appeals directly to the poet in ourselves, and that our real enjoyment of poetry...depends upon our own keenness of imaginative apprehension and emotional response", and so he adds that the cultivation of the faculty of poetic appreciation is important.

Given their vulnerabilities, for children to have any chance to succeed there muust be a significant shift in thinking among the public. The CRC must be debated in the US inlcuding a discussion of its problems and promise/potential. The US must ratify an improved version fo the CRC, live up to iy, and other nations must too... Public schools could be the forum where these conversations begin. Regrettably, many are unfamiliar with this convention and/or are unaware of its existence."

Poetry written by myself since the age of 6 years old! Mostly poetry for kids. Short poems with a lot of meaning.

"I've written and performed dozens of spoken word poems, yet I can't tell you in easy steps how to write any kind of poem, much less how to write a spoken word poem. Poetry, generally speaking, defies those kinds of recipes and instructions. Plus, there are no hard-and-fast rules for spoken word poetry. Right now, Luke Neff and I are adding prompts and using labels. Eventually, we want to create a page where you can search based upon subject, type of writing or Common Core standard. We also plan to add some lesson plans and maybe some student samples in the long run. Our goal is to provide a free resource that teachers can use in their classrooms or that individuals can use as inspiration for writing.

The difference between 'thanks to' and "because of". Thanks to: - can be substituted with 'due to' (= interchangeable with 'because of'- - of lower register usage compared to 'because of' and 'due to'. - does, or does not, show appreciation ('due to' or 'because of' is quite neutral)

While it is true haiku was the predominant form of Japanese culture, and certainly most recognized by non-Japanese, waka inspired it. It was an art form, first begun in the 8th century CE, which continued in popularity through the modern era.

The commencement ceremony affirms each student's search for knowledge. It often includes a graduation speech which seeks to put their recent hard (or not so hard)  work into the context of their future. Many of us hear one or two commencement addresses as graduates or listen to a handful as spectators. Yet -- as we graduate from one year to another, one relationship to another, one experience to another -- we always are learning. Though these myriad departures and arrivals of everyday existence are seldom met with ceremony, words traditionally reserved for momentous occasions may ring true and inspirational at any hour. That's why we created this unique archive of commencement addresses, selecting an eclectic menu of twenty nine extraordinary speeches from the thousands that we have reviewed since beginning work on this initiative in 1989. Though some of these wonderful remarks were given decades ago, we believe they are as relevant and important, perhaps increasingly so, as the more current speeches.
