Remember SnappyTV, the exciting social TV startup that won the award at the first Social TV Summit? The San Francisco based company is growing their advanced editing tools, and it recently announced "VTweets" - the ability to bridge the live video you capture on their platform with tweets.
The two major features of VTweets include the ability to instantly select tweets to be highlighted at the appropriate moments within a SnappyTV playlist and the ability to embed playlists within web mobile and second screen environments.
Users can also share their favorite shows on Facebook and pair their mobile device with a web browser on a computer, which turns the device into a remote control or a second screen.
Not in the US
To promote the popular show's second season, a new street-level display at 6th Avenue and 21st Street in Chelsea lets you peep into a crime scene and use a touch screen to crack the case. Don't have time to dawdle? Scan a QR code with your smartphone on the way by, and you can sort through the evidence later.
Microsoft also emphasized the multi-screen experience at a press conference where they further showcased the abilities of Xbox SmartGlass, a companion app that transforms mobile phones or tablets into second screens that interact with the Xbox360 for enhanced entertainment. Indeed, the company is encouraging users to experience games, movies, and television in an entirely new way, offering facts, trivia, and strategic tips to assist in the mastery of game completion. Viewers of this season's Game of Thrones will be able to use SmartGlass to peruse interactive maps, read about characters, and view exclusive behind-the-scenes content.
Users can tag TV shows, which will pull up content on the show such as trivia, cast bios and merchandise. It is within this feature, that Shazam is seeking to increase consumer engagement by allowing them to tag the TV show to find out what the cast are wearing, and then link them directly to an online store.
