The great thing about Moodle's Open-Source framework, other than the cost savings, is the ability to customize and fine-tune your online courses to your exact specifications. Hundreds of custom third-party modules are offered for free by Moodle contributors, which once installed, can change the look, feel and functionality of your Moodle to suit your requirements. Despite their usefullness however, Moodle's list of available Moodle Modules is an exhaustive one. One often needs to sift through and try out dozens of modules before finally deciding on one.
Activity module for Moodle that allows the use JClic applets as a new type of resource in courses. The module collects and shows the results of the activities done by the students.
Although Moodle by itself is a great system it does not previously have any embedded support for voice communication. This project created a Gong Moodle module so that teachers using Moodle can easily put a Gong discussion board into a course. The Gong activity can be supported as an individual one (for a course as a whole) or a grouped one (for each group inside a course). The module provides a seamless integration. For example, user authentication in the Gong system is done transparently to the users. They are not ever required to log on the Gong system separately once they have logged on to Moodle.
"I conducted a survey at my current school (December 2010) and am sharing some of the results here. Some of the results confirmed findings through observation, some were obvious, other not so much. I used the 'Questionnaire' module to create and deliver the survey (all through Moodle) and then exported the results to Excel to do more refined analysis that the module does not allow."
The LTI Tool Provider module (lti_tool_provider) allows a Drupal site to serve as a Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) Tool in any Learning Management System (LMS) supporting the LTI standard. (http://developers.imsglobal.org/)

The third largest Lutheran church organization in America with membership around 400,000. Our training efforts support users here at the headquarters building in Milwaukee as well as across the US and the world.
Our Moodle site is WELS.net University. We have been using Moodle for about a year and a half to support primarily our technology system training efforts. We do a lot of in-person training classes on our custom systems and post companion support materials online in Moodle. In addition, we have been developing stand alone training modules for web based training. Finally we have made use of the forum tool in Moodle as a communication vehicle for our various system user groups. I elaborated on this in another forum post.
If you are interested, you may view a live sample course that is publicly accessible.http://university.wels.net/moodle/course/view.php?id=63
It exists to support member congregations who sign up for web site hosting through our hosting vendor.

This module discusses the importance of developing materials to orient students to the LMS. Materials should also be developed to help students be successful as an online student.
