"Convert is an easy to use unit conversion program that will convert the most popular units of distance, temperature, volume, time, speed, mass, power, density, pressure, energy and many others, including the ability to create custom conversions! Convert is very easy to use. You simply select the tab of the category you want, select the input unit, select the output unit, and type in the input value. Convert shows you the conversion result in the output box as you type."

Maths & Health Lesson Plan: McMaths Fast Food Challenge  - HOME - Edgalaxy: W... - 0 views

"Lesson McMaths Fast Food Challenge: This Lesson Covers both curriculum areas of Maths and Health including percentages, conversion & Calculations, Food tables, nutritional Value and Recommended Daily Intake. I did this series of lessons earlier in the year with my students and it was one of the best learning experiences we had as we learnt a great deal about nutrition and some pretty open ended maths strategies over the course of the week that it runs for. Students were really engaged learning about these 'fast' foods they eat regularly and the excessive amount of calories they consume if they are not selective when eating out at fast fast food venues. More so some of them were shocked at the amount of exercise required to burn off that Big Mac, Coke and Fries and really started to make the connection that 'fast food' was a 'slow slog' to burn off."

Maths: Why don't we fathom young minds? | Schools | Schools | Mail & Guardian - 0 views

"Conversations about mathematics education in this country pop up frequently in the media - and I have yet to come across anyone who is happy with the way things are in the learning of maths among the nation"s children. Many try to find out what goes wrong by conducting research. South Africa has about 150 researchers in mathematics education, and there are a number of special mathematics chairs of research and development at various universities. Funding foundations are generally very keen to contribute to research, especially if it is linked to development programmes and if some impact can be measured."
