As we all have heard, the laptop for teachers project of the DoE has now been officially been gazetted. Teachers are to get an allowance of R130 per month to subsidise the aquisition of the laptop over a 5 year period. I think this would make a GREAT excercise to work out just how vaible this innitiative is. This document gives the background to the project. I am looking forward to a great lessonplan!!!???? A very interesting look at the cost of a BIG Mac burger and man hours worked. I think this could be a great departure point for a lesson/activity. We can bring in factors like a comparison between developed and un-developed countries and create some awareness in the process. Who wants to work on this as a lesson plan?
