    "The Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) seeks to advance knowledge about the use of standards and self- assessment processes in enhancing programs and services to students and in developing designated student learning and developmental outcomes. Proposal Focus: Research proposals should address some dimension of the question: Does the use of the CAS Standards and Guidelines in a self-assessment process enhance programs, services, or student learning outcomes? Proposals with a specific focus on uses of the CAS standards in a Self-Assessment process are preferred. Proposals may be at the department, division, and institutional or multi-site level. Proposals may study a particular functional area. Proposals should not be for the individual use of a standard for campus self-assessment as grants are intended for research purposes. Dissertation research will be considered and is encouraged."

Our proven leadership in developing these benchmarks and providing guidance in implementing them has resulted in broad adoption of the ISTE standards in the U.S. and in several countries. In June 2008, ISTE released the next generation of NETS for Teachers, which focuses on "using technology to learn and teach."

The Handbook gives teachers a wide variety of tasks and activities to use in the classroom along with ideas for adapting these activities for different levels and languages and longer curricular packages.The Handbook was originally created by members of the Minnesota Articulation Project. While the handbook is still available in print through the CARLAmworking paper series most of the handbook is now available online.

    ""Julius" is a high-performance, two-pass large vocabulary continuous speech recognition (LVCSR) decoder software for speech-related researchers and developers. Based on word N-gram and context-dependent HMM, it can perform almost real-time decoding on most current PCs in 60k word dictation task. Major search techniques are fully incorporated such as tree lexicon, N-gram factoring, cross-word context dependency handling, enveloped beam search, Gaussian pruning, Gaussian selection, etc. Besides search efficiency, it is also modularized carefully to be independent from model structures, and various HMM types are supported such as shared-state triphones and tied-mixture models, with any number of mixtures, states, or phones. Standard formats are adopted to cope with other free modeling toolkit such as HTK, CMU-Cam SLM toolkit, etc. The main platform is Linux and other Unix workstations, and also works on Windows. Most recent version is developed on Linux and Windows (cygwin / mingw), and also has Microsoft SAPI version. Julius is distributed with open license together with source codes. Note: you should prepare a language model and an acoustic model to run a speech recognition with Julius. "

The concept is simple: click "create Readlist," paste in whichever URLs you'd like in your book, add a title and custom descriptions, and share. You can export your book in either the near-universal ePub format, or send it directly to your Kindle. Sharing options are pretty standard - each readlist has a public URL for viewing, and a public edit link which you can send to people you want to collaborate with.
