"A handy notation function allows for notes to be made on cards throughout the app. The notes are then compiled in one place ("note" tab) so that all can be viewed at once rather than having to fish through cards to get to the notes. Notes can be viewed within cards too."

Tips for Developing Students' Note-taking Skills | Faculty Focus - 1 views

  •
"Here are some of the reasons why students should be taking notes for themselves. The practice of note-taking develops several important skills-starting with listening. You can't take notes if you aren't listening. You need to be able to take decent notes because in most professional contexts, indeed in life, you are regularly in situations that require taking in and processing information that you need to remember and later apply. You can't always be asking people to give you a copy of what they just told you."

  •
The importance of reflection and reflective practice are frequently noted in the literature; indeed, reflective capacity is regarded by many as an essential characteristic for professional competence. Educators assert that the emergence of reflective practice is part of a change that acknowledges the need for students to act and to think professionally as an integral part of learning throughout their courses of study, integrating theory and practice from the outset.

Little White Coats: At The Precipice, We Change... - 0 views

"There comes a moment when you're forced to step beyond the things you know. It's a split second--an instant adjustment from the safety of recollection to the insecurity of the unknown. Day after day we head into the library, hunching over twice-reviewed notes and hidden behind piles of books yet to be read. We push ourselves to work harder, study longer. We toil knowing that each page holds a secret that might allay suffering or change a life. But at some point, the physiology and pharmacology don't matter. Organ systems and microbiology give way to something different...something more."

" It is essential to set clear expectations for professional behavior with faculty and residents. A notice of deficiency should define the expected acceptable behavior, timeline for improvement, and consequences for noncompliance. Faculty should note and address systems problems that unintentionally reinforce and thus enable unprofessional behavior. "

Calculate your item banking needs using UKCDR tool (V1) - 0 views

  •
The requirements developed from across 8 different institutions in the original 2005-07 project are given here with tick boxes for departments, schools and institutions to select which aspects of item banking and associated functionality they feel are key to their own current or future processes. The tool will then give match information using the results of appraisal of 12 pieces of software, including some well known software companies e.g. Speedwell and QuestionMark, and some lesser known projects and companies such as TOIA and BTL. The original project was based heavily in medical undergraduate assessment. Note, a 2009 project is due to create and release information relevant to a V2 specification. The V2 will be more generic, building on the information brought forward for V1. UKCDR is a sister project to UMAP, a national collaborative project in the UK for core, applied assessment in undergraduate medicine.

Welcome to MedMaps.co.uk - 1 views

  •
The purpose of this website is to create a collection of free medical mindmaps in order to facilitate learning of complex topics. Mindmaping is a way of incorporating imagery, colour, and visual-spatial arrangement to your notes. These elements have been separately shown to improve recall of learnt material. Mindmapping allows for the whole topic to be displayed on a single page, which increases revision speed and allows you to see connections between different ideas more easily. The difficulty in using mindmaps for revision is that it often takes a fair amount of time to design them and there are many topics to be covered in medicine. In preparation for exams, it would be very difficult for a student to make a good mindmap for every topic. One of the aims of this website is to help you overcome this problem.
