This was my favorite site for taking a minute to have a little fun after a particularly intense lesson. The videos are short, cute, and educational and there are resources for teachers.
Thanks for this - my own children have used this and love it. I keep meaning to add it to my list of things to explore. I like how the English section has different areas for grammar, writing etc.
There is also BrainPop Jr. (http://www.brainpopjr.com/) for the younger levels. I love the site as a review or introduction for any concepts that we are teaching.
Quia is a site that allows teachers to access template tools for quizzes and other assignments, and students can access and take these assessments online. This can be used in a variety of ways, including formal assessments and test preparation. There are also shared activities teachers can access, which are well-organized by category.
This website aligns to my teams EQ by discussing ways educators can differentiate their instruction ELL students (and all students when we really think about it). The resource created by Karen Ford (2011) talks about "how differentiated instruction is not the same as individualized instruction...it is a matter of presenting the same task in different ways and at different levels, so that all students can approach it in their own ways (Trujo, 2004)." Information is also shared focusing on the ELL population and ways teachers can successfully differentiate to support their learning.
Teachers have long associated the benefits of Pre-K when it comes to preparing the youngest learners with early literacy and emergent reading skills. While some policy makers and families are still resistant when it comes to enrolling their very young children in preschool, there is no longer any confusion when it comes to the potential benefits.
This policy brief from the National Institute for Early Education Research out of Rutgers, clearly lists and delineates the benefits of such programs when it comes to early literacy. Clear and well-organized, this policy summary and analysis helps to define and provide examples of both family and educational components that can better provide early literacy skills to children before they ever reach kindergarten.
This article provides a wonderful overview of ways to involve families in a learning community at school across multiple subject areas. However, there is a large focus on reading and ways to foster family involvement in developing early literacy skills at home. This will be an excellent resource for our group as we begin to design a plan for supporting students in Kindergarten in their ability to blend words and recall high frequency words in text.
This article focuses on a special education teacher and the methods she uses to teach her students reading comprehension. It is a resource for instructional strategies that may help close the instructional gap.

If one of the main incentives for Twitter in education was tapping into a student-centered resource, then the newest trend for 2015 should be Instagram for education. This blog gives teachers an inside view of using Instagram to create lessons and provide interactive learning.
Week 9:
This is a journal article that ties in the importance of screencasts and mathematical education. The article delves deeper into e-learning and evaluates the effectiveness of screencasts on both math and science. Screencasts can be used as instructional strategies for increasing learning beyond what an individual educator can do for any one child at a time. The key behind this strategy in its value is if it is reused enough times to impact learning. It is a resource to keep in mind when planning for reteaching or providing more exposure and support for a concept learned.
A teacher could use this in his or her classroom to help students brainstorm ideas in the writing process. I have used googledocs to insert a pre-writing template for students to complete prior to some writing assignments which fulfills a similar purpose. The resource could also be useful in helping you keep your agenda or priorities organized especially when working in a group.

I'm trying this again . . . Docs Teach is digital "warehouse" of primary source documents that include interactive activities, such as evaluating evidence to make a case for a particular argument. This is very useful resource for a social studies class.
Why reinvent the wheel when making PowerPoint presentations? This online tool is used to upload and download PowerPoint presentations and visuals on all sorts of topics. Users may search for an already created PowerPoint on a subject they may teach and download it for their own teaching purposes.
Although this online source is open to anyone, it can be used in any classroom content or subject area under discussion; however, a teacher may need to customize sample PowerPoint presentations to fit their classroom needs. For example, if a language arts teacher needed to give notes on grammar and parts of speech, they may search for a PowerPoint already made including that information. This tool saves teacher time and helps spark ideas!
This is pretty neat. It reminds me of the "SmartExchange," resource site for SmartBoards. Only this would be the powerpoint/presentation equivalent. Nice find.
The tool I posted is Slideshare, a presentation platform where users can post PowerPoint presentations they have created for their classrooms or even businesses. I have used this tool in the past in order to find ready made notes presentations I could present to my 6th grade language arts students. The great thing about about Slideshare is that I can use already created PPTs and customize them to fit my students needs. I definitely recommend this site for the teacher who just doesn't seem to have extra time to create all new notes presentations. Don't reinvent the wheel!
