Educational uses for Digital Storytelling - 1 views

  • Digital Storytelling is the practice of using computer-based tools to tell stories. As with traditional storytelling, most digital stories focus on a specific topic and contain a particular point of view. However, as the name implies, digital stories usually contain some mixture of computer-based images, text, recorded audio narration, video clips and/or music. Digital stories can vary in length, but most of the stories used in education typically last between two and ten minutes. The topics that are used in Digital Storytelling range from personal tales to the recounting of historical events, from exploring life in one's own community to the search for life in other corners of the universe, and literally, everything in between. A great way to begin learning about Digital Storytelling is by watching the following video introduction to Digital Storytelling.

4-2 The iSchool initiative (Mobile Learning) - 0 views

I like this but I do hesitate with the technology in the classroom because we rely a lot on the tech and when it fails we are then scrambling to get it back up. Many times when technology crashes we are out for several hours. However... I do like this type of learning and engagement with the ability to communicate with learners and teachers. Including the interactive school information.

Cool video, I hadn't seen that before though I've thought through those same ideas he brings up many times. I'm not sure the iTouch is the tool, but I think the iPad might be the tool/type of tool that makes his idea a lot more achievable.

HealingBeats: Binaural Beats - 1 views

  •
If using Binaural Beats in a classroom, students will need headphones and their own laptops to listen to the samples, MP3s or WMAs. A guided meditation with Binaural Beats would consist of the facilitator guiding the process before the actual sounds are played as interruption could potentially ruin the effectiveness of the activity.
