Kids' Money - 0 views

  •
"How do our kids learn to manage money? At school? By watching TV? From their friends? By their own mistakes? From watching their parents manage their money? Most kids learn from a combination of all these. But as with every other aspect of education, with the right information and a little commitment, parents and teachers can make a big difference in preparing kids to conquer the many financial challenges they will face as adults. Kids' Money is an interactive resource for parents, teachers, teens, kids, organizations and international visitors designed to help children develop successful money management habits and become financially responsible adults. This site continually changes as a result of new comments, suggestions and contributions. Check us regularly, share your experience and your views, and see the difference your input makes. We've been working on our Resources for College & Universities and came across the following video. We think it helps further answer the "Why Kids' Money?" question. "

Interactives . 3D Shapes . Intro - 0 views

"Introduction We live in a three-dimensional world. Every object you can see or touch has three dimensions that can be measured: length, width, and height. The room you are sitting in can be described by these three dimensions. The monitor you're looking at has these three dimensions. Even you can be described by these three dimensions. In fact, the clothes you are wearing were made specifically for a person with your dimensions. In the world around us, there are many three-dimensional geometric shapes. In these lessons, you'll learn about some of them. You'll learn some of the terminology used to describe them, how to calculate their surface area and volume, as well as a lot about their mathematical properties. "

NSTA :: Outstanding Science Trade Books for Students K-12 - 0 views

  •
"Reading science trade books is the perfect way for students to build literacy skills while learning science content. The books that appear in these lists were selected as outstanding children's science trade books. They were chosen by a book review panel appointed by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) and assembled in cooperation with the Children's Book Council (CBC). NSTA and CBC have joined forces on this bibliographic project since 1973, when the list was known as Outstanding Science Trade Books for Children and was primarily targeted at grades K through 8. Beginning in 2002, the list has been expanded to include high school as well. Now, we've updated the lists again, this time to include links to activities that complement each selection. And if you're looking for a list of the books, we now link directly to NSTA Recommends, where you can find a list of the last 10 year's worth of winners and generate an Excel file of your favorites. Learn more at NSTA Recommends."

"CELEBRATE THE ENVIRONMENT Because parties are fun, they are an easy way to learn things. People feel better after sharing a good time together. They talk and get new ideas to help the Earth. Then they have a good reason to act on what they have learned. Just as the Fourth of July reminds us to love our country, Earth Day reminds us to love and care for the Earth and our fellow creatures. huglobe If every neighborhood lived in harmony with nature, most of our environmental problems would be gone.
