Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi: Flow, the secret to happiness - 0 views

  •
Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's Ted Talk about how the flow term is appeared. Beyond, how he started to deal with psychology and the only aim of him to find an answer to "What makes a life worth living?" He searched an answer at different area and find the best answer at psychology. Although he know nothing about Carl Jung, even he doesn't know the name of him (I am surprised to that); after participating at one of his conference; he affected and started to deal with psychology. Finally, after this studies, he appeared the term, 'flow'.
  •
I also add the most famous painting of Dali, persistence of memory. Because flow term remind me that painting. I think we are at our surreal world at the flow instance and also the time term is completely lost. http://www.dalipaintings.com/images/paintings/the-persistence-of-memory.jpg
  •
I like this painting of Dali! Although it can be commented in various ways, we can comment it from the point of view of flow theory like; in the flow moment you don't realize time flies until that moment ends. Thus, I agree with you that it really fits into distortion of sense of time.

Yasamaya Dair- Genco Erkal and Fazıl Say - 3 views

  •
Genco Erkal and Fazıl Say performing this poet with piano. Not only they are in the flow, also people who is listening and watching also feeling that moment.
  •
Very good example, very good poem, very good performance. I think "ölmekten korktuğun halde ölüme inanmadığın için" line is one of the best meaningful verse at Turkish poetry. Also, I think this one is better in terms of performance and recording qualities; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEbsNaWA7-I
  •
I took a great opportunity to listen them live last year. Its name was "Nazım Oratoryosu" . That was an incredible performance. I recommend that if you have a chance, you can listen them without thinking.

An augmented reality sandbox - 0 views

  •
This box can be informative and fun AR environment for primary or elementary school students to form topographies and simulate real time water flow in geology and science lessons.
  •
I hated geography lesson when I was in high school and while I see those kinds of application, I wish studying at high school now with those technological tools :) I think it can be really beneficial and also gain creativity of students.
  •
I thought besides making sand castles on the beach, primary or elementary students can play sand to learn topographies and water flow at the same time. And yeah why not, for high school students it can also be fun and beneficial for improving their creativity :)

I say the similar things at the comment of Kutay's share. I think our sport habit can change in time with these device and application. There were some arguments related to integrate Google Glasses into some sport type at the time that was popular. Maybe, in a near future we can see these kinds of changes.
  •
Selcuk you are right but it is still very expensive to use it. on the other hand, such as in Football, Soccer, Ice hokey money is not a big problem for federations and they can find a lot of sponsors about it. That is why i believe in a short time they will start to use these kind of augmented reality features to make sports much better.
  •
Maybe after federations start to use and these application become widespread, the personal model of those can be produced at cheaper price. However, I agree with you, price is one the biggest problem at that sector.

Augmented Reality in Physical Education (PE) - 1 views

  •
This video is about how to integrate technology in PE classroom by using aurasma app. A basketball coach tries to teach three basic basketball skills with augmented reality platform. Also, she shows how this aurasma app is used step by step. Enjoy!
  •
I mentioned at OdtüClass forum abou the flexibility of that Aurasma platform and this video is the good example of it. I think that platform can be fitted to any area with the right design.
  •
Although it is a nice though, it is not very effective for the sport enviroment. While you are practicing, it is really hard to run around with an ipad. But i agree the way of teaching. Maybe they can design a diffirent tool for more effective trainings.

Google Glass in Fitness - 0 views

It gives you a big opportunity to be in the game when you do sport. You can challenge with yourself by seeing yourself in the real sport field. Also you can improve your performance and learn with enjoyable games.

How fun it looks! It gives immediate feedback about the time and velocity. It visualizes the invisible; such as a map. Yet, it looks practicing more than teaching a new concept as I understand. Also, the user interacts mainly with physical objects rather than accessing the virtual information. So, can we call it lightly augmented reality?
  •
I agree with you Busra, it is very lightly augmented:) We may say that in time you may learn how to run in which distance and which tempo but that is all for now.
  •
I agree with büşra, it a kind of visual version of runtastic with that form but it can be developed. For example, think about you run at treadmill (maybe upgraded version for VR) and with the VR glasses you can go to the any environment from the list you can choose. I think, it would be fantastic.

The Pursuit Of Happyness - Basketball Scene - 0 views

  •
The Pursuit Of Happyness is beyond a film for me, because the impact of film changed my point of view and ideas a lot. Maybe you watched it but if you do not know its topic, the film is based on true life story of Chris Gardner who established Gardner Rich company at Wall Street starting with selling medical devices at his penniless situation. The scene is taken from that movie and although it is simple scene, I think the idea behind that scene is really important for intrinsic motivation. Because like at the scene, people say you cannot and we believe them or we want to believe them because we think it is really hard. However, all we have to do is just wanting and struggling.

Tynker - Immersive Game Worlds for Kids to Learn Programming - 0 views

  •
Tynker is the English online platform where the students (children) are taught programming. The aim of the platform is to provide a solid infrastructure for STEM to prepare for the 21st century. Its slogan is "the easiest way to learn programming at school" and more than 20,000 schools use this program. It also include design base learning. I think learning programming at early ages is very important for children to develop their critical and algorithmic thinking skills. This platform facilitates both teachers' work and makes it fun for children.
  •
I really like the program. Even I can use it to learn the basic things from this program. Thanks for the share!

Cubelets! Thousands & Thousands of Tiny Robots - 0 views

  •
A system of small cubes that can be used for STEM. Each cube has sensors that are sensitive to different things and can gain the ability to move in this way. Thanks to all these sensors, everyone can use their creativity and design robots for different purposes. An application that I think would be very useful, especially for young children. Although the prices are a bit expensive (330$), I think it is a tool that children can enjoy and learn at many sizes.
