Dear Halil, The site cannot be accessed. It is better to give another link,I guess.
  •
Actually I have just checked it and it is working but if you still have problem to reach the book please try this link: http://www.martinshaven.com/Resources/Hofstadter%20-%20Godel-Escher-Bach.pdf
  •
Thank you for the new link. I guess it is due to the settings of my computer.
  •
I couldnt access the book either :( But it seems very interesting, I would like to read and enjoy it. I have heard about Escher for the first time last year by a friend of mine from mathematics department, I believe Escher himself is a mathematician too, is that right? I am especially a fan of his "Waterfall".
  •
Canan did you try the second link I have added? In fact, he is an artist, but Gödel is. Yet, while trying to explain the nature of meaning, the book gets help from some works by Gödel, Escher and Bach, all of which similarly acquire their meanings by self-referencing and creating formal rules made of meaningless elements. So it is possible to say he is mathematically inspired :) and I like that paradoxal piece too.
  •
Yes, now I have reached the book:) thank you for sharing this with us. Reading on such creative people and getting to know them more is great.

Project Noah, learn and document wildlife!! - 0 views

Project Noah is a tool to explore and document wildlife and a platform to harness the power of citizen scientists everywhere. You can explore and document and share the wildlife around you.
  •
İbrahim, we used Project Noah in one of projects at Canada. It was one of the most preferred app for the preservice science teachers. They recommended using the app for inquiry based learning activities. I especially like the biodiversity map here. Such a useful tool for science classrooms.

Informal Science Learning - 1 views

  •
Here I share a report on informal science learning. The report synthesizes research on science learning across three primary venues--everyday/family life, designed experiences in informal institutions, and out-of-school programs. The evidence presented suggests that learners' informal experiences with science, from museum visits to television shows to observations in nature, contribute strongly scientific knowledge and engagement. I agree with the fact that such informal experiences boost learning, especially science and additionally language learning.

Roger Schank - 0 views

Schank is one of the leading pioneers in artificial intelligence, cognitive science and learning theory. One of his quotes has gripped my attention when I had a look at his page. He states "Education must remain a process where an individual learns to discover oneself and, in doing so, endeavour to improve the human condition. For our future, it is important that we teach our children that reading and learning can be enjoyable and intrinsically rewarding." He emphasizes how important learning by doing is, and believes that we should put conventional teaching methods aside because these make school horrible. In order to make it less horrible, softwares, let's say, technology should be involved in existing educational system, which is already broken.
