    The first robot teacher was tested in Tokyo in 2009 to sixth and seventh graders. The robot teacher can express six basic emotions - happiness, surprise, fear, disgust, sadness and anger. As I know a French company has developed a robot teacher, too.

    This is the website for The International Baccalaureate (IB) program that I mentioned in the class. It is a recognized leader in the field of international education, encouraging students to be active learners, well-rounded individuals and engaged world citizens. The organization offers to schools three programmes: the Diploma Programme, the Middle Years Programme and the Primary Years Programme. It is applied in some of the private colleges such as Eyuboğlu Schools that I have worked in, İstek Schools and Enka Schools from Istanbul.

    Actually your point is really important, changes in the technology should be followed and used as a tool in the classroom, the tools that are significant in terms educational value for sure. Or the other end would include only games on stealing or killing as mentioned. I have checked out Hickory-Dickory Dock now and it seems effective to me as well.     Paul Harris is a professor of education in Harvard Graduate School of Education. His expertise in mainly on child development, cognitive development and emotional development. The way children learn about science, religion, feelings and the role of social cognitin and imagination are some his research fields. His most recent book, Trusting What You're Told: How Children Learn from Others, was published in 2012. The book discusses how far children rely on their own firsthand observation or alternatively trust what other people tell them - especially when they confront a domain of knowledge in which firsthand observation is difficult. For example, many aspects of history, science, and religion concern events that children cannot easily observe for themselves. How far do children believe what they are told about these domains? When and how do they become aware of the conflicting claims made by science as compared with religion?

    I agree with you Afranur, the video reminded me of my personal teaching experience as well, especially at my first year, getting to realize that each and every student had unique characteristics was difficult for me and I had hard times like you:) But we will get better I am sure, by taking into account the things we both underlined.     I found his video highly interesting in that it begins with a thrilling question "when does learning start?" , it talks about the research that shows how much we learn in the womb -- from the lilt of our native language to our soon-to-be-favorite foods.

    Yes, it really is interesting and hard to understand for me as well. There are various factors involved in our learning process for sure, but frankly I did not imagine the time before birth. "brain-based learning" sounds like an efficient keyword to achieve new knowledge on this topic.

    I agree that such research can be influential in discussing precautions or alternative perspectives for pregnant women and also for all involved in the study of learning. About the language acquisition, the very interesting question you raised has a long history of debate as you already mentioned. Maybe additional research in the future will help to put more light on the issue.
