Boardmaker Symbols for Picture Books
This is a collection of Boardmaker Symbols to use while reading picture books. Many of the boards are of books in the SET BC Accessible Book Collection. The symbols are 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches in size. These could be made smaller, then laminated and cut up to velcro to the book itself. This image is a sample of a board that can be used while reading 50 Below Zero by Robert Munsch. "With consideration for some of the most frequently recommended visual supports in mind, this small 5 ½ x 8" binder includes a First/Then board, a Personal Picture Schedule, and a Task Analysis Checklist, with a Finished Pocket on the front cover. Each of these is easily available by flipping or opening the folded board which is adhered to the Finished Pocket. A Token Reward board is on the back cover. The picture symbols and tokens for all these tools are housed inside the binder on plastic tabbed dividers covered in adhesive carpet tiles."

"When making your own PowerPoint book, a template can be a helpful time saver. The templates below are for creating ABC books and personal books for students with significant disabilities, including deaf-blindness. The templates have high contrast backgrounds and some have finger spellings. (The finger spelling photos come from Pics4Learning.com. They are free!). The templates have also been setup so that there is an auditory click and some movement when students turn the pages in the book. In all of the downloadable templates, the pages and the text boxes have already been made. Teachers, therapists and/or parents can spend time adding pictures and text, rather then the technical aspects of starting from scratch."
