Competition in the cloud file management will be hard. Dropbox, Box, Drive, Skydrive, .... great actors, with a lot of interesting features. I think Box missed the opportunity to have a great Google Apps integration, they didn't follow our suggestions, implementing Google Docs is a very odd way, and Google now has done with Drive what Box could have done years before. So for most of our customers, it's better to use Drive than Box, even if Box features are by themselves more interesting. But with no correct integration of Google Docs, this doesn't allow to use thme in the google Apps environment.

New upgrades for sharing Google Docs

Nice improvements in Google Docs.

Backupify is a very important add-on solution for Google Apps, providing and extra layer of security to be sure you will never loose any data, even if one of your users is deleting it on purpose or accidentally. Backupify will allow you to retrieve any information from gmail, calendar, contacst, docs and sites, at any time. And having Symantec on board is a very impressive signal for the reliability of the company in long term.

This is the big question. You know my answer, in the future we'll not need anymore files, because everything will be manager online (produced and consumed online). I'm living with this all day, the only files I'm managing are those received from external people. Myself I'm not producing anymore files, everything is produced on a SaaS service (mind maps, docs, spreadsheets, accounting, billing, timesheet, bug tracking, development tracking, sales pipeline, CRM, task management, etc...)

C'est normal qu'on ne parle pas beaucoup de wikis dans le grand public. Ce sont des outils de collaboration, et le grand public n'a pas besoin de collaborer. Par contre dans l'entreprise on en a besoin. D'autre part c'est bien plus difficile de collaborer que de converser. Les wikis vont sûrement devenir comme les outils de messagerie, des commodités dont on ne parlera même plus. D'ailleurs les trois eules fonctions importantes des wikis sont la création de page, les liens entre pages et la gestion du versionning. Et cela peut se mettre en place sur d'autres systèmes que des wikis (exemple de Google Docs).

Google Docs may soon enable live, simultaneous editing of Microsoft Office documents thanks to the recent acquisition of DocVerse. The teams have a shared vision of enabling easy collaboration for Office users, and may end up signing up a few new businesses to Google Apps in the process.

That could become interesting.

Long awaited, it's coming very soon :)

This will allow to store any kind of files in Google Docs, and share them through shared folders. Huge improvement for people still stuck with files.

That could be a useful way of helping people migrate, but it can also just let them keep the same bad habits and just work the same way, only their documents are now stored in a different server.
