It would be very helpful if you could provide us with a bit of information. This helps tremendously as we make plans. * The primary audience for this workshop will be K-12 teachers. Is that correct? * Are there any specific objectives or programs you hope to support through these trainings? * The confirmation indicates the workshop schedule is 8:30-3:30, Is that correct? Attached, you'll find the proposed agenda's for our week of workshops. Please review them to make sure they meet your objectives and let us know if we need to make any changes or if you need any clarification on what's included. Please reply to this email as soon as possible to let me know if the agenda's meet your approval. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions. I'm looking forward to meeting you all in June. With my summer travel schedule, email is the most efficient way to reach me. I do check several times a day.

Hopscotch HD for iPad on the iTunes App Store - 1 views

  •
"Hopscotch allows kids to create their own games and animations. Kids unleash their creativity with this beautiful, easy-to-use visual programming language. Inspired by MIT's Scratch, the Hopscotch programming language works by dragging and dropping method blocks into scripts. When you're done with a script, press play to see your code in action! As you get more advanced, you can add more objects and use custom events, such as shaking and tilting the iPad, to run your code. Why coding? By the year 2020, there will be a projected 1.4 million computer jobs but only 400,000 CS students. Computer Science is among the highest paid college degrees and programming jobs are growing at 2x the national average. Many of the best coders fell in love with programming as kids at the age of 8, 10 and 12 years old. With Hopscotch, kids can build and perfect their own creations while while obtaining an understanding of the fundamentals of computer science. Blogging About The Web 2.0 Connected Classroom: Why Diigo Rocks! - 0 views

  •
Why Diigo Rocks! When you save to Diigo your saves go anywhere because they are saved to the cloud. Sounds mystical doesn't it? The social part is because you can make your saves public and share the wealth of knowledge with others. Say you are a science teacher. Your fellow science colleagues can go and view your saves because you have made them public.

Create Rich Text With Rich Notes - 1 views

  •
Create Rich Text With Rich Notes There's not a lot you can do with your notes in iOS for the most part. Most notes apps let you type and that's about it. If you need to call out specific sections of text or give emphasis to certain phrases, there's only so much you can do. Rich Notes is an app that allows you to not only create notes with bold, underlined, and italicised text, but you can also add color and even highlight passages. If you've been looking for a notes app that will let you create rich text in iOS, this may be the one. We'll take a look at it and see how it holds up against the rest. Like this article? Leadership for Mobile Learning; A Guide for Administrators - 0 views

  •
"In the face of the "new normal" of decreased budgets and increased expectations, many administrators are turning to technology to enhance teaching and learning while mitigating the consequences of consecutive years of budget cuts. Mobile learning, in particular, has attracted a great deal of attention for its potential to engage students by leveraging the technology environment they have grown accustomed to in their non-school lives; its potential to scale personalized learning and reduce the digital divide; its potential to extend learning beyond the four walls of the classroom and the limited hours of the school day; and its potential to enable new pedagogies based on the affordances of these devices that students already carry at their fingertips.Still, the field of mobile learning is still emerging and there are many questions to be addressed when contemplating a mobile learning implementation. How do we create a program with a sustainable impact on teaching and learning, rather than a superficial adoption of the currently "hot" technology? What are the steps involved in implementing a mobile learning program? How do we optimize the investment of our technology dollars? How do we choose devices, networks, and software for our implementation? What are the security considerations in implementing a mobile learning program? What are the policy considerations for a mobile learning program? What are the professional development considerations? What are the teaching models associated with mobile learning? What are the options for funding a mobile learning program?"

The Fischbowl: What Job Would You Hire a Textbook To Do? - 2 views

  •
" What Job Would You Hire a Textbook To Do? " It was a fun and thought-provoking two days at Discovery Education's Beyond the Textbook event. Thanks so much to Steve Dembo, Dean Shareski, Hall Davidson, Laura Wenograd, and all the other folks at Discovery who not only planned this thing, but took very good care of us while we were there (Full Disclosure: I did not get paid to attend, but Discovery covered all expenses). And thanks to my fellow attendees for making this a great learning experience. (Oh, just a reminder Dean, there are still a couple of light bulbs you need to change.)
