Create Rich Text With Rich Notes - 1 views

  •
Create Rich Text With Rich Notes There's not a lot you can do with your notes in iOS for the most part. Most notes apps let you type and that's about it. If you need to call out specific sections of text or give emphasis to certain phrases, there's only so much you can do. Rich Notes is an app that allows you to not only create notes with bold, underlined, and italicised text, but you can also add color and even highlight passages. If you've been looking for a notes app that will let you create rich text in iOS, this may be the one. We'll take a look at it and see how it holds up against the rest. Like this article? Pear Note - Note Taking Utility for Mac - Useful Fruit Software - 3 views

  •
"Record everything. By integrating traditional text notes with audio, video, and slides, Pear Note ensures that you never miss a thing. Pear Note records audio and/or video while you take your notes, so later you can find what was being said when you typed something. You can play back an entire recording, or jump straight to the point you need. Watch this short video to get the full picture."

DAILY INSIGHT: Standing in the Back, Watching the Screens in 1:! - 0 views

  •
Really INTERESTING article about teaching in a 1:! situation. Standing in the back, I watched the screens. The students had seen me come in, and a few clearly clicked away from the screen they had open as I entered. I am, after all, their principal. Our excellent teacher was lecturing. Our excellent students were note-taking, almost all of them typing notes into word documents on their laptops. We are, proudly, a one-to-one laptop school; we are also, proudly but somewhat controversially, a largely unfiltered internet access school (we do block porn and gambling sites, but not social media or gaming).

ScreenRecorder for iPad - 0 views

  •
ScreenRecorder Author: boopyman // Category: Apps ScreenRecorder is a very useful little utility that lets you take video captures of your screen. This app is almost a necessity whenever you need to make a video on your iPhone without the use of a computer. Some examples of what you might need this application for are making a tutorial, a demo, or just an explanatory video for a friend who needs some help on his device. You could even use this app as a "Notes" application, with the only difference being that instead of having to write everything down, you can just film it! As a plus, you can record your voice with a microphone and email the video for viewing on a computer!

"FIRST...we cut a poster-sized reproduction into small squares that were labeled very carefully. Each student was given a square (actually some of them made several squares) to copy exactly onto a sticky note carefully studying and blending crayon colors and matching shapes. (Only one row was cut and distributed at a time to make it easier to keep track of.) "

Web-Based Information Organization Tools for the Online Classroom | Online Universities - 6 views

  •
"There's a great big World (Wide Web) out there, and it's hard to keep track of everything you find in it. Even if you do remember to bookmark a page and come back to it six months later, what are the odds of remembering why you bookmarked it in the first place? While this situation might be frustrating for your average Web surfer, it can be infuriating to the online learner or educator who may have been counting on returning to the information and rekindling a memory of why it was important to their studies or teaching. Fortunately there are a bunch of tools available to let the Internet remember for you. Curation and annotation tools allow you to not only "remember" a web site, but also to take notes about the pages you've visited, save them right on the pages themselves, and even share them with others."

GistWeb - Just givin' the gist! - 13 views

  •
GistWeb will give the gist of any web page's actual content. It's goal is to provide a "summary" version of any page, giving you the meat and discarding the fluff. This saves loads of time when doing research online. To use GistWeb, drag this -> Gist It! Open) and click your GistWeb bookmark. One last note: As a rule, GistWeb only works well on English documents. Using it on documents of any other language may produce low quality results.

I largely use Google Reader as my RSS reader however I do use FreeRange on my cell phone quite often as each of the sites below will note. I have occasionally also used the Windows Vista gadget to monitor feeds. And now, here is a list of my ten favorite educationally related feeds."
