The Technology and Assessment Study Collaborative of the Lynch School of Education at Boston College did a study based on the "Use, Support and Effect of Instructional Technology" otherwise known as USEIT, in 55 classrooms in nine Massachusetts school districts. They were trying to research if student usage of technology would affect their tests scores on standardized tests.

In an article co-authored by Starr Roxanne Hiltz and Murray Turoff, distance learning is viewed as a revolution in education where if you do not adapt, you will become extinct. Universities nationwide must substitute "face-to-face interaction and teacher-centered pedagogy" with "hybrid courses using student-centered pedagogy"(2) Emphasizing the fact that a good percentage of students prefer distance learning, the authors call for new and innovative developments for the online course systems offered today. Hiltz and Turoff end with a very appropriate quote from Charles Darwin about the importance of flexibility and ability to adjust to changing times, ""It's not the strongest of the species that survives, not the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change."

Annotation #2 This video was on a school that made video games at part of the school for those students who are struggling to stay focused. students are able to do work from computer games made by the schools.

Digital identity, like that presented on Facebook, thrives because it is temporal. You can change your identity, you can become a liberal or conservative change your interests and hobbies at the push of a button. The point is, you're always presenting the identity you want to present you never have to worry about the identity you used to present. Students disclose lots of real information, but they also disclose lots of false information. The reality is, is that you can always change the fake information. Facebook is no longer just a current method of identity presentation; it is an archive of our digital identity. People love exploring each other, but we don't want to leave traces behind. We don't want people to be able to see if we've viewed the profiles of others. We don't want people to know if we decline their friend requests. Facebook, like it or not, has brought to bear a very real issue in online identity.

In Teachers Discovering Computers: Integrating Technology and Digital Media in the Classroom by Shelly Cashman discusses how teachers are able to bring benefit students learning by the use of technology within the classroom. This book, analysis's every part of technology and gives the reader many definitions of terms and literacy's that are needed to use technology in the classroom. Cashman "explains the difference between computers, information, and integration literacy", as well as points out why 21st century skills are needed to be incorporated in k-12 curriculum. In the first chapter she points out how teachers themselves can improve their "professional development, productivity tools in the classroom, and integrate technology and digital media in their instrumental strategies, lessons, and student-based projects.

In the article "Why Youth Love Social Networking Sites", Danah Boyd writes about Social network sites like MySpace and Facebook create a bridge for your social life and online life. Her article examines how these students use Social Networking websites to interact with their peers. She also addresses the issue of privacy and how it can be altered with in a social networking setting.

This article the author talks about how the different social networking sites have brought students together. A place where they can communicate with their peers and meet others. She addresses that fact that it allows the public to gather.

In the article Why Youth Love Social Network Sites: The Role of Networked Publics in Teenage Social Life by Danah Boyd is all about the way social networking sites work and how that connects to a person's real-life identity. Or in other words, how a person can form his or her own identity through social networking.

Good information about do students or teens even know what Bullying is and what do they think about it on the Internet. Group of students are interviewed about bullying.

In this chapter, Whispers in the Classsroom, the author Sarita Yardi discusses how we can import kids internet use home into the classroom, through simple procedure's such as chartrooms and exploring the internet. The author uses various studies to show simple tools could enhance student learning as well as motivate them to try to learn. On study in particular was done at a university, where a chat room was created. As the year progresses students began to log onto to the chat room more and at the end of the year there were over "300,000 user entries."

in this article, Anderson and Balsamo spreads the idea of our digitalworld and how we are surrounded with the use of this digital technologies since we live in a digital generation. The whole idea of technology can be used for educational goods or bad depending on how responsible the students use it and with the support of teacher helping the students to understand technology use for useful purposes.

This talks about how social medias such as Facebook, texting, and other social networking technologies are used to bridge the gap between formal and informal learning. Students collaborate or "meet" to discuss issues in the "adult world"

Facebook can useful for college students and teachers.

In this short video a group of children ranging from kindergartners to 12th grade students they share there thoughts about how teaching should be changed. They feel it is necessary to make a change to the way teachers teach in the schools. Technology is advancing rapidly and what they learn in class today is not going to be useful information for them in the future.

In this video students from Kansas State share messages of how their life works. They basically let the viewer know that technology is needed and how just sitting in a classroom isn't going to make much impact to their learning.

I found this article to be very appealing; it discusses how the media provides an important background for the social, emotional, and cognitive development of youth with socilized neworks. He also states how facebook affects college students in today's culture.
