How Does Google Rank Websites? - 14 views

  •
Explain how Google's algorithm works. Why is it hard to rank high? all nov 9 johny
  •
The Google algorithm is also called as page ranking. Page Rank depends on the outstandingly democratic nature of the web via to enormous link structure as the sign of the values for each individual page. Google would understand a page A to page B as vote; it would look noticeably more at links age receiver and the sheer volume of votes. It would analyze what you are searching for and it would pick pages the most important page from the rest of the file that is relevant to your topic. Sometimes important pages wont answer you question. That's why Google page rank is combined with complicated text matching techniques to find the page that is important and similar to your question. Google does more then searching pages that has a match to your question it would examine the feature of the page content (satisfied) and that it would decide that is this page is a good match of your question. Because many websites don't have the possibilities to get highly ranked, because they also need to compete with other websites that comes from the company and they got millions of back links. For example you want to make a website about selling second hand stuff. When your going to try to search about second hand stuff it would directly show you E-Bay because it more popular and it has more views. The websites that you may been searching for must be on the 15 page or more then that because the web may have not enough back links or even none.

The company claims that Mobile Couchbase is the first non-relational, or NoSQL database, built for iOS. - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/202819/what-is-an-example-of-a-non-relational-database-where-how-are-they-used  Explain the advantages of CouchDB's noSQL - CouchDB and noSQL architecture has a number of advantages that make it attractive to iPhone applications developers, the company asserts. - CouchDB= Efficient use of working memory, Amount of storage space (takes up relatively minimal, under 20 megabytes download size limit imposed by many people CouchDB's NoSQL has advantages such as its synchronization capabilities with minimal coding. Data can be automatically synchronized across a network. The app can store data created on the phone itself, all the while also synchronizing the same data with a cloud service or a data center. The storage space taken up by CouchDB's NoSQL has efficient use of working memory. When it is embed in an app, it can still keep the app to be under the 20 mb download limit, and doesn't drain the battery.

IBM supercomputer wins first Jeopardy dust up - Computerworld - 1 views

Explain how Watson can mimic human intelligence. Watson mimics human intelligence by going through the same process humans do in order to find an answer. Watsons can comprehend clues and pieces of information, analyze the information that is given, and come up with an answer to the problem. Explain the ways that computers can rival a human in answering questions. Computers are systematic machines. Humans, can also be, but in a less precise manner. Thus, computers that are given the same amount of information, and have access to a lot of background knowledge can possibly rival humans in answering questions because of the systems' advantage of sorting out pieces of information and analyzing it digitally. Humans depends on their brains, and not knowing whether they really do, or how much they analyze the data correctly or not. A computer's digital system can come up with a number of possibilities precisely and thus calculate the best conclusion to the question. Explain the ways AI can impact personal lives. With the help of AI, human needed jobs such as diagnosing problems and illness, self-service centers, and information center tasks can be given to the AIs. Also, this can enhance humans personal lives by offering the humans an extra helping hand, that isn't as emotional as humans, and can be just as effective as well as useful, albeit the cost will be very high. Why was Jeopardy a good challenge? Jeopardy is a good challenge because of the structure of the Jeopardy game itself. The game itself only provides sly clues, riddles mixed with sarcasm and irony. Humans can detect such facts in the clues, but for a machine, as well as the system to be able to recognize these clues as well as reading in between the words to understand the meaning for an answer is a challenge. The system would have to be taught the same way humans are taught to notice such abnormalities of the hints. This is harder to teach an AI since it doesn't follow the same path of instruction

  •
How does Facebook use the information people share to make money? Facebook uses the information people share to make money by using the data to give to advertising companies, which in turn, pay Facebook for the data they receive so that they can target Facebook users with more individualized advertising. The advertising business can choose who they want ads to be shown to, customized to be relevant to the person's personal interests and likes. The more ads that users see on Facebook, the more money Facebook earns from the advertising company. Therefore, the exposure of the information people share to advertising companies, in order to place these advertisements, earn them money. Describe the issues that Facebook should address. Issues that Facebook should address include: Privacy - The privacy of users' and their data should be kept private, and the issue needs to be addressed where other online companies target the user data, where the user clicks to see pages, and their online activity even though the user may not be online. Reliability - The reliability of Facebook's security system should also be addressed. Facebook needs to address how users are aware or unaware of how their data is being shared through their friends' apps, or shared to advertising companies. Also, users would need to be reassured that their data isn't distributed to other third party companies.

Amazon Goes Back to the Future With 'NoSQL' Database | Wired Enterprise | Wired.com - 1 views

  •
Describe NoSQL and its purpose. NoSQL is a highly scalable and reliable non-relational databases designed to maintain high performance and to be highly cost efficient for workloads of any scale, from the smallest to the largest internet-scale applications. It is also used to build a new kind of database for "unstructured" information that comes spilling off the Internet with each passing second. It is capable of handling large amounts of data du to the fact that they use flash storage rather than traditional spinning disks. These solid-state drives can provide single-digit millisecond response times. Explain how it is used differently than MySQL. MySQL database is a relational database that stores data in neat rows and columns, and it's designed to run on a single machine, while NoSQL database can store data in a more flexible way and is designed to scale across a very large number of machines. "SQL databases are like automatic transmission and NoSQL databases are like manual transmission. Once you switch to NoSQL, you become responsible for a lot of work that the system takes care of automatically in a relational database system. Similar to what happens when you pick manual over automatic transmission. Secondly, NoSQL allows you to eke more performance out of the system by eliminating a lot of integrity checks done by relational databases from the database tier. Again, this is similar to how you can get more performance out of your car by driving a manual transmission versus an automatic transmission vehicle." http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2559411/sql-mysql-vs-nosql-couchdb

The universe of apps has made life more convenient, more fun and more distracting. For example, you can find your lover. But in truth, most apps are designed for those whose life is already convenient. According survey there are total of 1.4 million people with disabilities in thailand. Worldwide, there are many apps which help facilitate the lives of physically impaired. 1. TTRS MESSAGE. This service allows people with hearing or speech impairment to place calls to standard telephone users via a keyboard or assistive device. TTRS operators interpret the calls, which can be initiated by either party. Callers use a text input device to contact the TTRS relay centre, then give the operator the number of the party he or she wants to call. The operator, in turn, will place an outbound traditional voice call to that particular party. The operator serves as a link between the two callers, relaying the text of the initial caller in voice to the other party, as well as converting spoken words to text. The service was first offered only via desktop and kiosk platforms, but it is now available to mobile users via an app. 2.Read for the blind. Wichai Pornpratang, vice president of telecommunications business at Thai Samsung Electronics, said the main technology used to develop this app is a voice recorder which records users reading. Those audio files are uploaded to the Thai Blind People Foundation's server. Then converted to DAISY3 books to achieve an acceptable level of audio quality. With this format, users can serach for and regulate reading voices, make duplicates and place bookmarks. 3.Wheel Go Round It is windows phone application for wheelchair users that locates and rates the nearest wheelchair accessible facilities such as parking areas, elevators, ramps and toilets. The app also allows users to take photos and add places where facilities for those in wheelchairs are available. It is great benefit, but the app could be improved if it allowed users to scan for t

Discuss at least one problem that relates to the impacts of the social/ethical issue. The problem here is that all of the 10 most popular applications on Facebook were transmitting unique user ID numbers to outside companies which violates Facebook's policy: data received from Facebook, including UIDs, cannot be shared with data brokers and ad networks. 7. Evaluate one solution that addresses the problem identified. Facebook user should have a choice on whether or not to allow applications to get their UID. Facebook should also tighten their policy and make it harder for Ad networks to share UID with third party applications.

Describe the relationship of the main stakeholders to the IT system. The main stakeholder, Facebook, is combating Koobface worm, which is, a malware (malicious software) to prevent it from infecting its users PC. 5. Explain the relationship between the IT system and the social/ethical issue identified in question 3. Koobface worm is a malware that could infect Facebook's users' computer, which is a security issue. It is estimated that the group earned more than $2 million from June 2009 to June 2010 by delivering the victims of its worm to unscrupulous marketers and makers of fake antivirus software. 6. Discuss at least one problem that relates to the impacts of the social/ethical issue. A Koobface attack starts with an invitation to watch a video and a message about updating the computer's Flash software. Clicking to get the update begins the download of Koobface, which gives criminals control of the computer, while the worm tries to spread itself further through the victim's social network contacts. This is a security breach to Facebook's users computer. When the criminals have control of the computer, they can do anything they want with it like, stealing personal information, etc. 7. Evaluate one solution that addresses the problem identified. Facebook need to step up their security for their users safety. To halt Koobface, Facebook uses algorithms that can detect suspicious posts and hijacked accounts, looking for unusual behavior like log-ins from odd places and a surge in messages sent. Facebook also keeps a blacklist of malicious Web links to prevent them from being shared on the site. When Koobface posts find a

  •
Are any corporate databases and networks safe? According to the article, they mentioned that no corporation databases are not completely safe and secure enough to protect personal information. There are too much false which makes network perfectly safe. It is very large storage and contains a lot of personal information. If the network is too big, they can't manage the network well and all the weaknesses will occur. The hackers will aim to hack the corporate databases because it has a lot of information therefore; it is not actually very safe. Should consumers be wary about providing personal data online? Yes, consumers should be wary about providing personal data online, because all services that store the online data are all under risk of being hacked, and the data compromised. Once the sensitive information is compromised, the user is more vulnerable to scam attacks through e-mails, as well as have their bank accounts or other user accounts online hacked. consumers should be a warning to be wary about providing personal data online because no corporate networks are frequently attacked by hackers and no matter how diligently their administrators work to protect them or how many protections are put n place, no network is perfectly secure. Even Sony' security systems are not perfect at all. Therefore, people have to be wary about providing personal data online How valuable is data stored online? Data stored online is very valuable, especially sensitive information such as ID numbers and bank/credit card numbers. Other personal data such as names, passwords, and security question answers are useful for hackers, and can be easily used for impersonation on other sites to hack into user accounts for further bad intentions.

    1. Explain the issues that are in common with both Amazon and Sony? Issues that are in common with both Amazon and Sony are their reliability and integrity as well as its security. Amazon has just revealed that its Availability Zone in northern Virginia has failed to accommodate customers that were using their services. Sony's hack incident includes its network protection system to be unreliable. Also the security of Amazon's customer's data along with Sony's online users' data is at risk, as well as sensitive information linked to bank accounts. Both Sony and Amazon suffer a setback on their online reputation. Both companies have their servers down which affect a lot of their customers using their services. They both revived worries about the safety of storing and processing data over the Internet. The two crises have also raised questions about the speed and quality of information provided by tech companies when confronted with systems failures. This further links to the data integrity. Amazon users have said that some data may be corrupted or loss resulting from their sites crashing. Sony's users' accounts data may have been altered by unauthorized people. 2. Explain the reasons that cloud computing will continue to grow? Cloud computing will still continue to grow despite its recent incidents because the benefits users receive outweigh the risks that come with cloud computing. The outage suffered by Amazon has been rare. Also, managing one's own network is hardly a guarantee of reliability; it costs a lot of money and is high maintenance. Cloud computing provides another alternative that can save costs for businesses. Also, the recent incidents have proven that managing one's own network is not as reliable as some think considering protection issues and failure/crashes in the network itself. 3. What could have prevented Sony from getting hacked? Sony could have increased its protection system, as well as create random simulations in orde

Heartbkeed isn't a malware, what it does is that it finds the hole or ways to get into a system of which points out the opening in a security system. then a malware of some sort uses that to get into the system. it isn't direct towards normal internet users so there is no concern there. but companies with a large system are the targets. for example google or the NSA. these organiations now use Open SSL.
