I found the issue to be rather indirect; now i realize, you also want direct evidence from within the article.

Outsourcing to India Draws Western Lawyers - 0 views

  •
This article is about the outsourcing of lawyers in India as the title says. By "draws western lawyers", its says how the cost has become cheaper for many lawyers to use Indians to do the small tasks that require a lot of time. The Western lawyers can use the Indians to save their own time and money and gain access to a larger work force, however for a certain price. With all these benefits from outsourcing the issue of globalization is involved. Western lawyers are using Indians across the world to get the work done at a lower price. Money is what these firms are tackling but also the efficacy of the work and the experience many Indians have (or the Indians learn through training). Jobs are available to them and this helps the economy of India but not the economy of America. The stakeholders thus are the Indian employees and the Western lawyers.

Intel and J.P. Morgan Chase to Expand Indian Operations - 1 views

  •
Intel is a company that develops processing technologies such as chips that are put into computer hardware. However recently they have decided to outsource certain necessary business operation to India instead of in the US. Additionally Intel has agreed with an investment banker named Morgan Chase, to invest about 1 billion of the company's money into this plan. Intel already has many of it's workers in India however wants to expand the business by increasing its workers within the company. Workers will be needed to help expand the company a long with workers both qualified and graduates due to the increased opportunities and positions. The reasoning as to why Intel continues to offshore work to India is because they are able to find high quality workers and can get work done at cheaper/lower costs. The organization affected mainly is Intel who is able to make a profit through investing in the workforce in India. Additionally the people who are in India that are given the jobs are able to benefit because more jobs are becoming available. The negative side to this is that, they are not paid as much as Intel workers in the US. Additionally another stakeholder is the U.S government itself that frowns upon the idea of offshoring jobs due to the knowledge that by doing this, job oppertunities available to Americans will decrease. The social and ethical issues and impacts of these are related to globalization and its impacts on both the country (India) and the United States. Although workers are given jobs the pay that they receive is not as much as a worker in the U.S would. This is done for the economic benefit of the country Intel itself, allowing them to create a greater profit by off shoring jobs to India. However those who are highly qualified and trained are able to find a job at Intel that matches their level of training. Thus they become employed if they need money. A positive impact to globalization is getting rid of the digital divide in a sense because fr

Report: 'Why pirate when you can stream?' - FierceOnlineVideo - 5 views

  •
"Want to cripple content piracy? Stream your video online instead. That's the conclusion of a new study from Global Web Index, which says content piracy isn't about having the content, it's about watching it as soon as possible. GWI -- the offspring of research consultancy Trendstream and Lightspeed Research -- contends that the increasing popularity of Hulu, YouTube and other online video hubs has increased content availability to the point where personal ownership is redundant, making users less inclined to steal content."

  •
This article is about HSBC's pplans to keep outsorucing clerical jobs in diferent countries. This has many owrkers upset because they feel this is eliminating their jobs and putting caps on their wages. THe social and ethical issues involved are Equality of Access and Policies and Standards. There are impacts on the Bank as well. There is the economic impact, they are saving alot of money for setting up call centers they save about $20,000 - $30,000 per job it moved into the call center. There is a psycological impact the bank has to deal with and that is of their unhappy workeres in their base country. Finally there is a global impact, with more call centers the bank may be able to gain new customers in those countries. THe relevant stakeholders besides the banks are, the workers of HSBC bank, customers of the bank, politicians and media, other countries where centers are set up. This includes, India, China, Malaysia, Phillipines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. The primary IT System are the call centers. This involves the use of WANs and LANs. There are also vairous ways in which call centers can be set up. They can use cloud computing or even be created virtually through the development of software as a service. The employee would only have to susbscirbe to a software that would allow them to work in the center, this makes it easier to receive updates as well.

Video boom threatens to gridlock the internet - 0 views

  •
In this article the stakeholders are worried about the internet connectivity. Since many people are using it today as we speak they are watching videos, tv shows, listening to music from the Internet, and many others and would be known as stakeholders. The issue here is the reliability of the hardware. In the article it states that the copper wires that were initially put for calling which only required voice. Now it has increased with much more and in order for the internet connectivity to increase there needs to be more of a solution than fiber optic cables since it was not planted in to the ground before. The IT systems that requiring so much internet speeds are computers, mobile devices, computers within the doctors office, and many other. For tele medicine to continue there needs to sufficient or reliable internet connectivity. For instance, say a doctor wanted to help out another doctor in India. For the doctor in America it wouldn't take more than a couple of minutes. If the hospital did not have its own secure internet then it would have taken a long time since other internet connectors are using it to download and upload video, stream live music, and much more. The point here is that for one to have accessibility in the internet connectivity there needs to be globalization. Globalization will help increase and satisfy almost everyone's needs.

Mobile Malware Targeting Smartphones - 1 views

  • A comparison of these statistics to the worldwide smartphone population places the number of infected devices globally in the millions. Because the vast majority of these infections are designed to be stealthy and the fact few smartphones have Anti-Malware applications, most infected users are unaware their devices have been compromised.

Presentation of Issue-- If a professional cannot switch to electronic health records, they are at a disadvantage. The playing field is not even for all professionals. Some professionals were switching their written records to electronic records to make access and use of records easier. While some professionals made the switch, others were having difficulty succeeding. This issue affected some doctors severely. Profit Outweighs Risk in Juárez Factories - 0 views

  •
This article is about the United States outsourcing manufacturing jobs to Mexico. Some companies in El Paso are also thinking of outsourcing to Juarez. At the same time, there have been more than 2500 killings due to drug issues, forcing thousands of residents to flee and businesses to close. The stakeholders are the retail businesses and the residents forced to find safety somewhere else. Assembly line workers, being paid $1.60-$2.00 an hour are also stakeholders in this situation. The system of outsourcing jobs, has created violence as well as low standards of living for the assembly-line workers. The issue at hand is how globalization and cultural diversity changed the way business is done. By outsourcing jobs, businesses are willing to accept higher profits, even with bad working atmospheres and internal tension.

What is a Standard - 0 views

  • Nomenclature is challenging because "technical specification" has different meanings in different areas of the world.  For example, a technical specification in CEN is a lower grade, less permanent deliverable likely to be revised.  A standard, on the other hand, is intended to be stable and products shall conform to the requirements.
    • Madeline Brownstone

Standard is more stable than a technical specification.
  • to limit how a specific technology will be used to carry or represent the data.
  • GS1’s Global Trade Identification Number (GTIN) is an example of a high-level application standard that is completely independent of a technical specification because it can be applied regardless of whether bar code, RFID or even human-readable characters are used to represent it.
