Kacee Von Krosigk 1-24-10 Content The National Writing Project states, "…focuses on the knowledge, expertise, and leadership of our nation's educators on sustained efforts to improve writing and learning or all learners". They seem to focus on any forms of writing and they want a future that has each and every person as a successful writer and learner. They are anchored at colleges and universities. Teachers from all levels and all subjects use these ideas. They want to improve the teaching of writing and learning in schools and communities. The page that I focused on was, "30 Ideas for Teaching Writing". It has very interesting and fun ideas to use in the classroom. Design The website is very professionally created. The viewer can tell that this is a qualified website to use. There are no distracting pop ups. The bottom of the page says 2010 National Writing Projects which would make the viewer feel comfortable about using the information. There are many links to very useful pages that any teacher would be happy with. Overview As an inspiring teacher, I would be very happy using this website for projects for my students. There are full length articles and updated information. The purpose of this website is to encourage teachers to be more creative and fun in the classroom by using the ideas given.

    a. Overview: The title of this webpage is "Mceer, earthquake engineering to extreme events". At first glance this does not look like an educational website. Upson further review the site has a clear mission statement and is a research center for discovering earthquake effects, responses and research opportunities. b. Content: This website is directed to the entire teacher and student community. The offer enhanced learning opportunities for students of all ages and also for teachers who are looking for more supplementation. The site clearly indicates is credentials and location. The state their goals for teaching and learning at early ages. The site has links for employment and internships along with educational activities and resources. c. Posted by Kelsey Potter on January 24, 2010 Content: The basic content and audience were apparent on entering the webpage. There is background information and contact information on the sponsors and the authors. The revision date was posted on the bottom of the page and appearing to be frequently updated. All of the links are working properly. The organization of the page was crammed together bulking the links together. Although the information is easy to understand and sufficient to the purpose. The information is free of bias and is correct. Design: The webpage took a little bit longer to load than what was intended although was appealing to the eye. The information was evident and although a lot of information was organized. The site sponsor was evident and was easy to find contact information on. With no directions for the webpage it was still easy to browse through the information. The graphics that are given do not go along with the webpage because they are advertisement. There is a sufficient amount of information, is clearly labeled and easy to find. Summary: Overall this webpage would be beneficial to come to when a teacher is looking for lesson plans. The information is clear and easy to find. There are different subjects for all of the different ages benefitting all different teachers. The resources are trustworthy and the sections are interesting.

Ag in the classroom - 0 views

  •
Casey DeGabain January 24, 2010 Overview This site seems to have a lot of information but does not seem that appealing to very many age groups and would probably not be the best teaching tool. Content There is a lot of information's dealing with Ag in the classroom, Ag career pathways, educator resources, e dag programs. This sight has a lot of good information but does not seem like something that would be very good to use in the classroom because there is only specific things it deals with and does not have a wide variety of things to interest a lot of kids. I would not use this in my classroom. Design This sight does not have very much graphics or things that really stick out. It is pretty plan with just facts and information. I do not think it would appeal to students very well because of this. It isn't really hard to find your way around but it seems poorly designed for an educational tool.

Olivia Mabie-January 24, 2010 Content: There are many links at the top of the page that have lesson plans, online degrees, teacher tools, worksheets, and much more. There are many other links for teachers to click on to get to more websites for other information to use in the classroom. However once I clicked on the links at the top of the page the information was limited and I had to click on the links more than once to get to the next page. This website many other links but they are limited to the information on the next page. There are links that can give teachers freebie things to use in the classroom, lesson plans, and lesson plan templates. This website has many good links but it takes a long time to get to the next page and there is not much information on the other pages. Design: There are many distracting things about this website, there are things that keep changing and catching my attention and they are not even related to what the website is about. The font is very small and someone would need glasses to read the information. This is a site that was not organized when it was made. This would be a very time consuming website trying to find information to use in the classroom. All of the information about when the website was last updated is not on the site which makes teachers unsure of how good the information is because they do not know when it was put onto the website. There are many colors used throughout the website which can make it hard to read because it is very distracting. Overview: One thing I disliked about this website was when I first went into it there was a pop-up asking me to join the newsletter. I would not use this website in the future because it takes too much time to find information and get ideas to use in the classroom. One link I found that would be helpful in the classroom was the craft link; this is a link that I would use in the future. The website as a whole though I would not use, it is hard to get ideas to put

Everything Fossils...Fossil Information for Education, Collecting and Fun! - 0 views

    a. Overview: The first thing I noticed about this site is that it is a dot-com site. Even though this is the case there are virtually no advertisements. There is a section on the bottom of the page that you can subscribe to this site through RSS feed, google, my yahoo, my MSN, and my blogline. b. Content: The content of this site is very strait forward that this is a site for educational purposes for all ages and audiences. The "about" section contains the authors/owners of the site and why they built the site. There is contact information included. This site is dedicated to sharing knowledge to other teachers. The menu bar includes kids activities and lesson plans. There are no costs involved in this site so it is accessible and easy to use. The only problem is that the credentials of the authors is not listed anywhere which makes the site slightly untrustworthy. c. Design: I personally enjoyed visiting this site. The content was put together very well with the readings enjoyable. What I liked about this site is the homepage specifies that this is an educational site. The homepage is professional and inviting. Each menu bar is linked well to other resource pages for further explanation on the subjects. This was the first website so far that mentions home schooled students and the teachers.

Casey DeGabain January 24, 2010 Overview This site has opportunities for a variety of students, it looks professional and appealing to students there is a lot of good information. It does not seem like the most kid friendly sight but would make a decent site to use in the classroom Content This site contains a lot of information that will help older kids with career paths and scholarship opportunities to continue their education. There is a lot for little kids as well with games and puzzles online. And different worksheets that can be printed off to do outside of the classroom. Or used in the classroom as assignments. There is also updates about changes to the site so that everyone can be kept updated. I would book mark this sight I do not think it is the best site around but there is a lot of useful information available on it. Design This site is designed pretty good it is appealing there could be more kid appealing things such as pictures. The sight is very simple to navigate through I would think that it would be easy for kids to use. They would like the information provided and find it useful I think.

Ryan Mikesell ITEC Web Review 1/23/10 Overview: Lincolnelectric.com or the Lincoln Electric homepage is a promotional website for the Lincoln Electric company but also contains information about Lincoln welding products and links to information regarding welding technology. The site is directed towards people in the welding profession, in regards to potential customers, or anyone in need of products or looking into joining the welding profession. Overall this is a good website to search products and gain information about the welding profession. Content: Lincoln Electrics main page contains a lot of advertisements and product reviews but that's because this is the nature of the website, to sell Lincoln products. However this is not the only available resource this page offers it also contains some very viable information. Within this website there are links to informational sites, career opportunity pages, educational and informational articles as well as educational products such as welding instruction videos and handbooks. Each article included on the website has authors and references. Lincoln electric also provides all copyright information on each page. There are links to talk to professionals and how to contact the company itself. A very useful site to someone in need of Lincoln products or information about becoming a welder and the necessary equipment needed, as well as the opportunities in the welding profession. Design: The design of this webpage is very typical for a corporate, product selling website; it's obvious its intentions are to sell Lincoln products and to persuade people to join the welding profession. Its links and toolbars are easily navigated and clearly defined. All revision dates and references are provided. The page also includes an abundance of images and links to other sites.

Ryan Mikesell ITEC Web Review 1/23/10 Overview: The Society for Range Management website is a nonprofit organization website dedicated to range management. It's an organizational and educational site and holds an abundance of information regarding range management and the careers within that field. It's easy to understand and navigate with links to agriculture based websites, and contact links. Content: Although it is a promotional website for the Society of Range Management it contains very educational information. It presents useful links and information regarding careers in range management and would be highly useful in a range type class or as a reference to someone in search of a career in range management. The links work properly and all pages have references and revision dates are provided. The site also provides links to jobs available throughout the country and can be used as a job searching tool for range specialists. Ultimately this site is easy to use and very informational. Design: The design is very user friendly. The links are easy to navigate and in plain view. The society has its own advertisements to promote membership but it's done in a clean and appropriate manner. The respectable thing is the site includes its own mission statement and clearly defines the sites goals.

Kacee Von Krosigk 1-24-10 Content Purdue OWL Online is a great way for students to learn many skills needed in English classes. They can learn how to properly cite any information in any style. There is a writing lab that can be used for practice through exercises. All English teachers would recommend this website for students so that they could learn APA and MLA citations. The different information subjects offered on Purdue Owl are: * General Writing * Research and Citation * Teacher and Tutor Resources * Subject Specific Writing * Job Search Writing * English as a Second Language * About the OWL * OWL Exercises Design The design of the website is very confusing. The pages lead to almost random pages that don't seem to have been built very well. From using this website before, I know that it has very good information however; sometimes I am turned off by the confusion of the navigation of the website. There is a link about how to use the New Owl. This explains each aspects of the website which can be very helpful to many people. Overview This is a website that is easy to use if someone simply wanted a MLA or APA style guide for citations. This is why I use this website and I will recommend this website for my students one day. The purpose of this website is to correctly teach students and the community about many aspects about English. It is very helpful for some people but can be very confusing to others.

Posted by Kelsey Potter on January 24, 2010 Content: The content of the page is clear but the audience is unclear for this webpage. The author is unknown and there is no information on the contact anyone for this site, the sponsor of the site is clear at the top of the page. There is no revision date on the page although the information seems to be kept up to date. The purpose of the page is clear and understandable. The content is well organized and easy to understand. There are a lot of ideas throughout the page and is sufficient to the reader. It is free of bias and consistent throughout the webpage. Design: The webpage opened promptly and was interesting at first site. There is a clear title and captions on the page and the index is clear to directing the reader in the right directions. The sponsor of the site is provided although information on the sponsor is not given. Copyright date is available. There are no directions in the site but they may be needed to guide the reader to what they are looking for. There was only advertisement graphics which did not benefit the webpage's content. The basic format was different throughout the webpage making it hard to browse through and ding information. The links are well organized and easy to use. Summary: This webpage is not a very reliable source although it is only science projects so it does not necessarily need to be. There are several good ideas for science projects for teachers to use in the classroom or for students to perform outside of the classroom. Although clicking onto the homepage is a little overwhelming with different resources for science projects to use as well. There is different ways of searching for science projects and that makes it easier for the reader to find what they are specifically looking for. Overall this web site serves its purpose by exposing fun and interesting science projects to its readers.

Annotated Websites for Afterschool Ag - 0 views

Casey DeGabain January 24, 2010 Overview This site offer a large variety of options for students there is virtual tours games worksheets. This site would be great for students that grew up in town and do not have a large agriculture background. Content Agriculture in the Classroom is a grassroots program coordinated by the United States Department of Agriculture. To help get students involved with agriculture, this site you will find teacher resources and lessons plans. Although designed for the classroom, the activities would adapt well to after-school programs. Which might help get more students involved with the Ag industry. Design This sit is fairly plan but there is a lot of great information and activities to get kids involved. This site would allow kids to learn something and apply it to a real life situation. Which kids are always wanting to know, when will I ever use this. The links off this site go to all kinds of creditable sites from universities which are trying to get kids interested

Native Americans in World War II - 0 views

  •
Robb Lancaster January 25, 2010 This site provides a historical account of stories and situations during and surrounding Native American involvement in World War II. Content: This site is a .edu educational web site. It pertains to Native American WWII draftees and military volunteers. This site is a scololairly informative-story telling paper, which leans more towards telling these true stories. This website would be very helpful to teachers because it deals with two major aspects of our history; Native Americans, and WWII. Design: This website is among the most simple I've ever seen. There are absolutely no links and all you need to do to access the information is scroll down. The only problem I can see is the site is too simple and it is not very long.

Web site for the Democratic Caucus, Committee on Science, U.S. House of Representatives... - 0 views

    a. Overview: This is a dot-gov site so it is presumed to be non-biased and accurate. The site is full of information including all the members of congress that are involved. This site is very informative with a history of what the site is about. b. Content: I like this site because it was the first one to be linked up to many of the science journals and other important global resource sites that are important to Earth resources that are being affected today. Although this site is loaded with scientific information, it does not however have a lot of resources for teachers. I think this site is primarily an information site to reference but does not offer very many tools for teachers. c. Design: This is a very professional and legitimate site. I would trust the information derived from the articles. This site has links to science foundations and the Library of Congress and a great "search" menu.

Queen Elizabeth I (1533-1603) - 0 views

  •
Kayla Rider January 23, 2010 Overview This site, I believe, is a very resourceful website. It is for those intended audiences looking for more information on Queen Elizabeth 1. This would be useful for any history course involved with the years of which she reigned, or any Shakespearean class. I have used this site many times throughout my collegiate career. It has some great information within it and is easy to move around in. Content The content of this website is as I afore mentioned. It allows you the choice of U.K. or U.S. English to follow along to. It gives you a table of contents to divide the history and story of Queen Elizabeth 1. This website has a vast amount of information about her and does not get boring. It has a section about the author, giving her credit for this website, and also letting the readers know if she is credible, which she does seem to be. It allows you to e-mail her with questions in the About the Site link. Overall, I believe it is a credible and reliable source to venture to. Design The design of the website is very appealing. It catches your eye at the moment you log into it. However, it doesn't over power the content of the site either. It allows for pictures within the text to help you follow along with the times in which Queen Elizabeth ruled. Overall it is very appealing and informational.

Amanda Lamey January 24, 2010 Overview The website is designed for people who are eager to think outside the box and like puzzles. This was a ".com" site allowing me to find a website that had more "no" checkmarks then "yes". This particular page did not list an author or copyright date. It was clearly laid out and easy to read. It had step by step instructions. It had pictures of each move to help individuals who are visual learners complete this task. The point of this website was to help you solve a Rubik's cube, but without the last two steps it makes you think outside the box to solve it. Leaving you stranded like that could make it frustrating or make you mess up your previous steps, leaving your cube unsolved. Evaluation of Design This site was not very appealing to the eye. I think that it could have used a little more color and used more colorful words. It seemed to the point and simple. Although I have tried to solve a Rubik's cube a few times and it's a lot harder than the directions appear. You can move through the website easily and understand the content. There are not directions or any other tabs that allow you to navigate to a related page. The directions are clearly laid out in steps. The last two steps are missing and in order for you to get them you have to purchase them. At the very bottom in small print you can click the contact us tab for further information or questions regarding general information. Content This website was not copyrighted or revised at any time. It is a ".com" meaning that anyone could have added their own spin on things and it was not edited or reviewed by a group of higher individuals. There is no address or frequently asked questions. There is a contact tab that leads you to three different emails. The site is a trademark of Seven Towns Limited. The grammar and spelling was accurate. The site was easy to navigate through and understand. The purpose of the site is to show you how to solve a

Purdue OWL - 0 views

Kayla Rider January 23, 2010 Overview This website, I believe, will be very useful for pre-service teachers as well as in-service teachers. It is an educational website for ESL students. It has many links within it that show you how to teach or how to use grammar, search for jobs, writing skills, etc. I have yet to use it for anything rather than this evaluation, but I could definitely see myself using it in the future for my students and myself. Content As said before, the content is for ESL teachers and students. It has links for grammar….etc. It has a table of contents of to the side to navigate through its perimeters. If you are stuck on MLA guidelines, it has a link to help you. It can be used for any writing mis-hap or question that you might have. It looks to be credible due to its vast amount of copyright restraints. I believe that overall this educational website can be very useful. Design The overall color scheme is appealing to the eye but does not distract you from its content. It is very easy to navigate through due to its overall set up. The tabs can be easily found, as well as the links in which you might want to navigate to. It has descriptors for its links that allow you to read a summary of what you are getting into. Overall, very effective design.
