Keenan Zimmerman 2/1/2011 Review: http://www.pbs.org/teachers/ Overview: PBS teachers is a part of the PBS website but it is not readily available from the pbs.org homepage. Because of this I feel it is worth writing a review for PBS teachers even though there are other PBS sites that have been reviewed. PBS teachers is a place for teachers to find resources or lesson plans for their classrooms. The site is easy to navigate and is very well done. Content: The content in PBS teachers is outstanding. There are many, many pages with resources for all subject areas. This includes projects for preschool teachers all the way up to seniors in high school. The site looks to be updated regularly and gives links to other sites that contain more content for a teacher to use. The site seems to be free from bias and is easy to understand. The authors of the material are identified. Design: The design of the site is great. The homepage is inviting and easy to look at, it is not cluttered with ads and the colors blend well together. The site is very easy to navigate being sectioned into different grade levels which are further sectioned by content area. There is also a search tool which works rather well. All the links seem to work correctly and an A-Z list which is very useful when using the search functions to find a specific link. The site uses drop down tabs which makes it very easy to narrow a search and find exactly what you are looking for.

Ben Lebeda pbs.org/teachers 9/14/11 Overview: pbs.org/teachers is a website that is devoted to teachers and providing them with resources and lesson plans on a wide variety of subjects at all grade levels. In addition to the lesson plans, there is also a discussion board in which educators can discuss topics such as special education, the necessity of the arts in school, and a multitude of other topics. Another feature of pbs.org/teachers is the professional development section that can be viewed by topic. This section provides information for educators who wish to continue their education by taking online classes on specific subjects. Content: This website made a very good first impression, as it was easy to tell that this website was intended for teachers and contained resources for them. All the lesson plans that I saw came from PBS, either from the teacher site, or from an educational TBS television program. I had a hard time finding many publication or revision dates, but none of the information was outdated, and it was all credible. It was clear that the activities and resources were intended for educational use in a classroom. Design: The design of pbs.org/teachers is effective in that it is simple to navigate around and find the desired subject. It is organized according to grade level, and then further broken down by subject matter. The ease of access and amount of information available makes this website a very valuable teacher resource, no matter what subject or grade level. There were several advertisements for other non-related websites, but it was not really distracting or overwhelming.

Daniel Goe Web Site Review September 20, 2009 http://mtnathlete.com/ The Website Mountain Athlete goes over workout plans and techniques for the outdoor athlete. There are links for rehabbing an injury, exercises, store, and photo gallery. Content: The main objective of this website is to help people who don't know a lot about how to workout and what to do to workout properly. The kind of working out that is seen on this site is for fit people who are ready to be challenged mentally as well as physically. The objective is to lift weights while keeping your heart rate above 150. It's conditioning as well as strength. Design: The home page has an updated you tube video of people inside the gym working out. It shows how drastic the workouts are and the toll it can take on your body. Everyone in this gym is motivated and pushes one another to do their best and finish no matter how tired a person is. Attribution: I like the website because it is very simple and to the point. On the left are links to everything you need to know about what is going on in Mountain Athlete. The design is simple just like the workouts performed but overall the website gets the job done just like the athletes on this site get it done in the gym. No matter how it looks in the end the final project is amazing.

The website explains when the IB history courses are available to students, followed by a description of the course that will be taken by the student and taught by the teacher over the two year program. After this brief description the website explains unit by unit what specific time in history will be focused on in both year one and year two. Than at the end of the website the page shows how the student will be evaluated at the finish of both years. This website could easily be used by both students and teachers because it is a syllabus that shows what will be expected for the students to learn, as well as an outline of what the teacher must teach. Design: This website can be easily navigated because it is very clear and to the point of what it wants to convey. The points are bulleted and to the point, as well as presented in an easy to follow matter. It starts with a description, followed by the course outline and ending with how the class is evaluated. The only problem with this website is that it only gives the course expectations for higher level; it does not provide expectations for standard level. Attribution: Overall I believe this website to be a very helpful tool for any IB history teacher. I would defiantly use it if I was going to be an IB history teacher. From the minute you open the website you can find what would be expected as a teacher as well as a student. It clearly labels what content would need to be taught and studied to be successful in this program. Also it provides the standards that need to be met to pass this content area. The only thing that could be changed or re-evaluated is that it should include standard level expectations as well as higher level. Other than that it is very precise and to the point of what it needs to present for the audience.

OVERVIEW Khan Academy is a site to help students supplement their learning. It allows students to go over materials at their own pace so that they are able to better understand the material. Overall, this is a good site to help students, and I would recommend it especially for math help. CONTENT The information is current enough for math. The content well organized and helpful to students to understand subject matter. It appears bias free (for math, not sure about other subjects) and the information is accurate and consistent with other sources. Grammar and spelling are correct. DESIGN The design is attractive and you can easily tell where you are within the site. There are not directions on how to move around the site, but it is fairly intuitive. Purplemath.com Reviewed by Betina Turner 8/31/10 ITEC 2360-02 This website is a very helpful site for students to get extra help with 7-12 Math. It has lessons the students can go over and there are also forums and helpful links to other sources that can provide extra help with Secondary Math. This web site is simple to use and it is up to date and it clearly states who made the website and give contact information. I have personally used this website to refresh algebra concepts and my mother uses it with her students when they are struggling with math concepts and they really like it and they are able to understand the material better. This site is a great resource for alternate learning.

OVERVIEW Purplemath.com is helpful to sudents who need suplimental help in mathematics.  It goes over basic content, and explains why there is a certain rule in the "math world."  It also has links to helpful sites that could make subject matter easier to understand.  There are also links on this site for test prep.  Overall, this is a good site if you know what you are looking for. CONTENT Links to other sites are helpful, current and working properly.  It's not  very well organized, but you can find your way around.  There doesn't seem to be any bias associated with it.  The content is current, accurate, and consistent with other sites. DESIGN The design isn't done very well.  It's not attractive and there are a lot of links in places where you might not actually look for what you are looking for.  It's easy to navigate within the site once you find what you are looking for, and the links are all working.

TeacherTube is an educational resource found at teachertube.com. It is a filtered, child-safe video website based off of the popular video site called YouTube. The site, geared towards teachers and students, was initiated by a superintendent from Texas named Jason Smith and is maintained through uploaded user content. TeacherTube is a fantastic source of videos to supplement lessons of all subjects in an elementary classroom. All content on this educational website is current, and its copyright has been updated as of 2015. All video links are informational and relevant, and some information about the people who uploaded each of the videos is available; however, no contact information is provided for the website. Also, the audience and subject matter of the videos are easily determined. The site's credibility is improved by its associations with the American Institute for History Education, Glogster EDU, NASA Ares, and other highly esteemed educational online resources. Over all, TeacherTube provides reliable, audience-appropriate, educational content to students and teachers alike, making it an excellent tool to use in a flipped-design classroom or to supplement any lesson in an elementary classroom. The website's design allows users to easily navigate TeacherTube's videos. The homepage displays a sample of educational videos and organizes them into rows by audience and then by subject matter: teachers, parents, students, and then math, science, and history. Each video shows appropriate content according to the subject and audience it is labeled. Additionally, users can search video channels or specific usernames of people who upload videos. This simplistic format of the homepage is consistent with all other pages, making navigation easy for users of many ages and ensuring efficient loading on any web browser. Tyler Knowles August 31, 2010 Review of World Facts and Figures Overview The purpose of this site is to inform the user of fun facts about different countries around the world such as population of a country or city, maps and country flags. It is very easy to navigate and very interesting. This website would target students, or anyone for that matter, looking to find out interesting facts about a certain part of the world. It also has links to current news going on around the world which stand out drawing the attention of the viewer. Content It is easy to determine the content of the site, however there is no information about the creators of this site. The content is to inform people of different statistics as well as interesting facts around the world which is kept up to date. The site offers links to such as measurement and currency converters which would be handy to any traveler, but is aimed for those seeking general knowledge of other countries. Design The design of this site is very user friendly, again appealing to students. The layout is easy to navigate and has many graphics to help you find out maps as well as flags for countries. By giving top ten country and city population ranks it enables the user to want to inquire more about population rankings and by simply clicking a link this is possible. The date of last revision is not exactly shown however links to current news events from around the world show that this site is updated frequently.

Shelley Limegrover January 22, 2011 OVERALL The fourth site I evaluated was the Physics Front. This site is intended as a resource for high school physics teachers. It contains links to sites containing lesson plans, activities, and labs searchable by topic and grade level. The site was very nicely organized and contained a lot useful information. CONTENT This site is made available by the American Association of Physics Teachers and is funded by the National Science Foundation. A list of contacts is provided. The site claims that the content is frequently reviewed and updated for accuracy. The bulk of the content on this page is links to other websites. However, the Physics Front is much more than a list of useful physics resources. All links are summarized in detail as to their subject matter, application, intended grade level, etc. Rather than having to fish through a never-ending list of links, the advanced search options make finding relevant material very easy. All links that I tested at random were functioning properly. DESIGN This site is very well designed. The layout and formatting is consistent on all pages. Navigation is simple with a menu bar accessible from all pages. There are no irrelevant graphics or advertisements. It is easy to scan the pages for pertinent information. The copyright date is clearly presented at the bottom of the all pages.

Shelley Limegrover January 22, 2011 OVERVIEW The second site I evaluated was phet.colorado.edu. This site contains interactive simulations of math and natural science concepts relevant to all grade levels including college. This site is intended primarily for Teachers. Besides science simulations, the site contains suggested classroom activities and lesson plans corresponding to the simulations. All content can be downloaded or run directly from the site. CONTENT The content and intended audience of the site is made immediately clear on the first page. More detailed information about the intent of the site as well as about the authors and sponsors is made available via a list of links at the bottom of the homepage. The information on the site is not immediately easy to understand. However, this is remedied by instructions and suggested uses of all the content on the page. The site also offers dates for teacher workshops so that they may learn how to apply the material. As I mentioned in the overview, this site is primarily for teachers. A student would not be able to navigate through the material effectively without guidance. DESIGN The homepage downloads quickly and is clear of distraction. A simple navigation bar is provided at the bottom of the page. No scrolling is necessary to see it. The copyright date is clearly identified though dates of last revision are not. There are no broken links and all material appears to be up-to-date. The format of all pages is consistent and a navigation bar is always present. The site was compatible with all three browsers that I had available to test. The simulations are neatly presented on a single page, searchable by subject matter or grade level. There are no unnecessary graphics or video files on other pages of the site.

Mandy Toll 9/11/11 Overview: This website includes Abraham Lincoln learning games for kids. The website is intended for teachers and students who are looking for more information on President Lincoln. There are educational games for students to learn more about Abraham Lincoln, links to information on other U.S. presidents, the Gettysburg Address, famous quotations from Lincoln and many other informational things about Abraham Lincoln. Within the site there are a lot of links to other pages to further your knowledge about U.S. presidents but mostly Lincoln. I thought that this website was useful in allowing you to find information on Lincoln and would be suitable for students to use as well as teachers when learning more about Abraham Lincoln. Content: There was a lot of good content to this website. There are a lot of different links to allow both students and teachers to gain more knowledge on Abraham Lincoln and some information on other U.S. presidents. It is easy to tell what the website has to offer and who the audience is. The information is up to date and is appropriate for finding information on Abraham Lincoln. The links on the page to other sites are current and work well. The information on the site is for finding more information on Lincoln and games for students to play to gain more knowledge on the president among other things about Abraham Lincoln. The content on the site is well organized and easy to find. All the information is easy to understand as well. The information on the site also is consistent with other information in other sources. This site will most likely help in the future. Design: I did not think that the overall appearance of the website was very attractive however I liked how simple it looks and how easy it is to use. You can tell what you are looking for on the site and navigate around it with ease. The links on the site are helpful and appropriate and go with the subject matter. Overview- This site overall is a great resource for teachers looking for a lesson plan about the United States Presidency. There is not much question in its credibility, due to the fact that it comes directly from the US Mint. It can help any social studies teacher, no matter the grade level because it offers a variety of lesson plans. Though, it fails to offer anything interactive for the student to partake in. The only thing it gives is factual information, with very little interaction. Content- Within the site they make it very easy for a teacher to identify where they can access lesson planes. It also gives lesson plans for all ages. So no matter what grade you teach you are able to find the lesson plan that fits your age range. The sponsor is clearly labeled, but I was unable to find an author for both the site and lesson plans. Other than that, the website content is very helpful if you are looking for a lesson on the US presidency. Design- The design is easy to use, but it is not very eye catching. It uses basic graphics that get the job done, but overall not too great. Its main focus is to deliver content and help with information. All links work well. Not much time spent on trying to make it look good.

Trevor Santy Sept 14 2011 Overview: This site covers a multitude of subjects for varying grade levels. It is extremely user friendly and very easy to navigate. The main page has links going to individual subjects matters such as history. This site is very presentable with almost no ads, except for a few educational ones, on it and nothing to really distract students while on the site. My overall opinion is that it would be great for teaching as it also has a few recreational activities as well giving the site a multipurpose function; to teach and to be used as an extra activity if the time arises. Content: This site contains different activities for different subject matters such as history, math, science, and a few others. It also has a games tab that contains learning games for all ages ranging from the easy to some that are very challenging. Design: This websites design is extremely user friendly. With tabs to each subject and then banners to different activities. On top of that it has reference pages to other sites as well as a parents area and a preschool area. It also has contact info in its own tab. However, this site may be too flashy and distracting for some of the younger students so supervision while using this site is advised.

Oct. 7th 2012 Overview: This site is designed for educational entertainment and gaming. The content and design of this site make it evident that it was designed for children. This site offers many different resources for kids to access and use. The site includes games, pictures, polls, and even a parent teacher section. Content: While the site is obviously designed for children it contains many different categories and levels of learning. I would say the content ranges from a Pre-K to a fifth grade level. Although there is no clear indication of what game or program was designed for what level of student it is clear that some games are meant for the older elementary student. The site is also packed with seasonal games and activities, for example all of the Halloween games are broadcasted on the homepage right now. Design: This website is very eye appealing. The background is not just plain white and there are tons of interactive pictures posted on the homepage leading you to games and activities. All the designs are age appropriate for students in elementary although the load time could be faster.

Clayton Christensen 9/20/2009 This website is intended for math students needing help and practice in their subject matter. The site intends to provide help in any way. The site provides homework help, calculators, tutorials and many other helpful links. Content: The content of the site is laid out in a very organized way it has links listed under certain subjects that will help students. The website contains anything from basic math to calculus and even help with test anxiety and standardized test help. There is no revised date but it seems that the website is very informative and on top of math help. When clicking on links it provides more links to more specific areas of study. I like the fact that it has a wide range of subject so that it is not specific to one age group. Design: The design of the website is both attractive yet simple to navigate. The links are well laid out and easy to find the exact subject that a person is looking for. I like that the website is not loaded with animations but that it is simple. It would be easy for students to find there way around the website and do it in a timely fashion. The faster students can get through homework problems the more interested they will stay and this website does a good job of allowing students to navigate easily.

Ross Lindstrom - September 21, 2009 Website Evaluation #1: The American Political Science Association (APSA) The American Political Science Association's website is an aesthetically attractive website that also contains a wealth of information and additional resources. The Association brings together 15,000 members to form a community of political science study, fostering a healthy discourse and exchange of information. APSA organizes conferences, seminars, and produces publications for both students and teachers for the purpose of promoting the scholarly research of political science. My first impression of the website is a complete trust in the legitimacy of the information presented. Any student would find this website invaluable when looking for resources to do anything from simply understanding what political science is to writing a graduate dissertation or finding an internship in Washington. The website displayed efficient organization of the various areas of the site, a challenge when so much information is contained within. It had enough visual appeal to not become redundant while browsing and yet still retain the professionalism that should be inherent in such a field of study. However, a high school age student may find the website a bit dry and the content a little too advanced. Most of the publications of the website aren't available in a direct .html format, but download speeds are quick. There is significant information overlap among the publications, but in a field of study where slight opinion difference is a cornerstone of the conversation, this can only be a credit to its legitimacy. The first glance at the APSA website yields both an understanding of its purpose and a desire to explore the website's resource. The content is clearly organized based on subject matter as well as practical application. Proper credits to authors are prevalent, new content is regularly added, and old content is constantly maintained. One of the

Themathworksheetsite.com This site is created for teachers. The purpose is to provide easy to use worksheets for the classroom, and there are several different types of worksheets available. The target is more toward middle school and elementary age kids. The website is pretty easy to maneuver, and the subject material is relevant. Content: The website is easy to understand, and gives quick and simple worksheets that are very easy to figure out. The website's provider, Scott Bryce, is given at the bottom, and the updated date is easy to find as well- July 7. The content is easy to find, and user-friendly. Design: The website's design is boring, not very eye-catching, but seeing as the audience is more directed toward teachers, it doesn't seem to matter. The information is very useful to teachers, and is very relevant. There is a lot of information and resources available and make the site worthwhile to teachers. The site is fairly quick, and easy to maneuver.

Natasha Tuft Web Site Review September 20, 2009 http://ilovethatteachingidea.com/ The purpose of this site is to allow teachers to share and find creative classroom management and teaching ideas. "Get inspired with creative ready-to-use teaching ideas!" I was very impressed by all of the very useful links, organized information, and abundance of different kinds of ideas for different age groups. CONTENT This is a site with a very clear purpose. At the very top it says "We inspire teachers with practical, teacher-created ideas and resources that you can use in your classroom immediately." In an easy-to -find place you can contact the information providers. Not only is there a "About Us" link, the site encourages you to join their free e-mail newsletter in a few different ways as you navigate the site. If there is a regular newsletter that tells me that the site is regularly updated, current, and active. The quality of the information is very good, of course remembering that any teacher (or anyone for that matter) can post teaching ideas. The usefulness of each idea is in the eye of the beholder. There is much access to further information on any given subject as there are topics and many links. DESIGN The page loads quickly and the homepage is appealing. The sponsor can be contacted easily and the organization of the links makes it easy to navigate the page. In trying to find "use of multimedia" I actually found a couple of downloads that didn't work, which doesn't mean there aren't other useful downloads or clips. The site was compatible with my browser, had excellent content presentation which was organized and eye-appealing. Things seemed current as mentioned above and there was a lot of availability to further information. The site made me excited to start planning my teaching curriculum and methods!

Ron Morgan September 20, 2009 This website is intended to inform viewers of past, current, and future projects constructed by Christo and Jeanne Claude. The audience of the website would be any artist (or anyone for that matter) interested in art work that takes on a grandeur scale. The site is very informative and allows the viewer to search through many other art works. The site also has links to questions, errors made in reports about the artists, bibliographies, etc. Overall, the site may not be the most aesthetically pleasing, but the website is very informative and the content is very interesting. Content Summary: Upon first glance the viewer can easily identify that the website belongs to artists and showcases their artwork. The artists appear to have hired a different person to run the website. Information about the artists is easily accessed by this website. A contact person is given; however, contacting the artists seems like it could be difficult. The website looks like it is updated according to the progress of the artists' artwork. All of the information given in this website is relevant and serves the purpose of the artists. The website also has links to a couple of other site related to the artwork. Website Design: This website downloads in a timely fashion. The website isn't the most appealing, visually, to me. The website, however, is very easy to navigate through. The index that is at the top of the website is straight forward and useful. The website doesn't have directions for help if it is needed. The artwork that is shown in depicted with either photographs or sketches/paintings. The artwork is the main focus of the website and the website is effective at showcasing it. The website has a lot of content and is definitely worth visiting.

Gil Lowrey- 10/7/12 Overview: Proteacher.net is another resource site teachers can use to get ideas for lesson plans. You can search individual subjects or specific grades. There is also a chat section to chat with other teachers and a group's section to keep fellow teachers in the loop of your findings. Content: The content is extensive; it covers several subjects and grades K-8. You can also find specific standards and activities relating to those standards. Design: The design is poor. It is a little complex to navigate at first, but once you figure it out it becomes easier. This can be tricky and obviously everyone has his or her own learning curve. There is also a large portion of the site given to advertising which seems to take away from the sites validity at first, but when you remember this is simply a site to help find more resources it seems to not matter.

Overview: This website is a time line. It is pretty easy to understand and should be fairly straight forward. There are not graphics to draw ones attention away from the subject matter, which is both a plus, and a bit of a draw back. Content: The content of this site is fairly straight forward. It is a timeline of the events of WW2. Each date is in bold font with a description underneath appropriate for middle school students. Design: The design of this website is very easy to use. There is not much to the site. It is a standard time line, there are no pictures. But all the relevant information is in chronological order.

National Geographic is a reputable and world-renowned organization with an extremely experienced and knowledgeable staff of explorers and writers. National Geographic has been around for many years. There is a degree of seeking profits for the organization; however, National Geographic provides an extremely significant amount of data and information in science, even Earth Science.
