I love it!! I like that parents and students can be alerted and no personal info is exchanged. Seems very easy to set up and use. Do you have experience using Remind101?
  •
Yes I do, my parents love it. I used to do more with a class website, but never had anyone read it. I figured, everyone now a days has cellphones I'd just send them messages that way. It's all anonymous so my personal info is safe. I just send quick messages about what's due or coming up.

I've used this for a year. I have to say that the parents in my room are in love with it. I text out homework daily and misc. announcements.

It looks like this site has a lot of features similar to Diigo. Do you notice any features that would make you prefer one over the other? I think it could be used by students and teachers alike. I could especially see it used by students doing research and I like the collaboration/sharing features. I could see myself using it to share informational text to supplement the fiction we are reading in English class. I can highlight the info I want them to pay attention to or read my annotations or put questions in the annotations. I can also see using it to share texts with my staff members.

I really like this website! I use my SmartBoard often in class to highlight text to demonstrate main idea or important details. I would like to see what this looks like for students. It would be a great teaching tool for students to find main idea or practice researching for a paper. It would be very beneficial for teachers to see how students are highlighting main ideas in texts while also taking notes. Have you used this before? And how successful was it for students?

Sarah - I am new to using both Diigo and Scrible, so I did not realize all of the similarities between the two. I really like how you can highlight things with Scrible. Are you able to do the same with Diigo? Those were some of the same reasons I thought this would be a useful tool as well.

Go Animate allows you to make cartoon-like videos with dialog and animation. You can pick characters, scenes and then add your text. GoAnimate takes your text and creates a short video with your selections. The step by step directions make this very user friendly for both teachers and students. The students love the engaging videos and the ease of making them.

This is an excellent resource for nonfiction texts on current news. It will adjust the reading level for differentiation, connects to Core standards, and has reading quizzes. You can set up classes through which students can work.

VoiceThread - Conversations in the cloud - 0 views

This allows teachers to hold a forum. Students can reply with audio or text to a question. They can even draw on the existing image to make a point. Others in the group can then respond in turn.
  •
As you could tell from our class using it, I think this would be great for small group discussions versus the whole class. I could see this being used efficiently for a group presentation that the students would create and then have another group comment on the voice thread for pointers on what to consider, etc. This resource is definitely both uses depending on how you set it up whether it is a teacher forum or a student led forum.

Great site to use for collaborative projects. So many ways to share and communicate.

Good find! Is this the author of one of our texts for class? His feedback about educational reform is powerful! This is definitely a teacher resource, and something I will be referring to during the school year when I feel alone in my ideas for change. Misery loves company?
