7 Ways to Use Canva to Create Compelling Graphics @coolcatteacher - 1 views

  •
Canva is a fantastic, user-friendly tool to create professional looking graphics and infographics. After reading this post by Cool Cat Teacher I gave the program a try and really enjoyed it. The tool has stock images available for $1 or you may upload your own for free. Students could use it to make infographics on research topics, business cards, or posters for their businesses.

It looks like this site has a lot of features similar to Diigo. Do you notice any features that would make you prefer one over the other? I think it could be used by students and teachers alike. I could especially see it used by students doing research and I like the collaboration/sharing features. I could see myself using it to share informational text to supplement the fiction we are reading in English class. I can highlight the info I want them to pay attention to or read my annotations or put questions in the annotations. I can also see using it to share texts with my staff members.

I really like this website! I use my SmartBoard often in class to highlight text to demonstrate main idea or important details. I would like to see what this looks like for students. It would be a great teaching tool for students to find main idea or practice researching for a paper. It would be very beneficial for teachers to see how students are highlighting main ideas in texts while also taking notes. Have you used this before? And how successful was it for students?

Sarah - I am new to using both Diigo and Scrible, so I did not realize all of the similarities between the two. I really like how you can highlight things with Scrible. Are you able to do the same with Diigo? Those were some of the same reasons I thought this would be a useful tool as well.

Let's be honest, it is also a GREAT resource for us, too! I love this site. I have used it for years and it just keeps getting better. It is something I am also constantly recommending it to my students for research assignments that need citations.

  •
Edudemic is a site that connects education and technology.  It has great articles about people and technology.  For example, "Reasons Why Teachers Should NOT Share Their Phone Numbers with Students" and Ten Ways to use Mobile Devices in the Classroom.
  •
One of the most well organized and updated blogs that focuses completely on technology integration. There are MANY editors so the content has a very large scope including reviews of new digital resources and recent research.
