Similar to Tweetdeck, Hootsuite is a social media management dashboard. It allows to you to manage more than one account, schedule tweets and messages and analyze social media traffic.
Canvas is another learning management system designed to allow a "one stop shop" for teachers and students to provide and find any information necessary for a course.
Classroom resource for games and management tools. This website provides very easy tools for creating seating charts, random name picker (think digital popsicle sticks) and random group maker. On the game side, easily create games like Jeopardy, Speed Match, and Who wants to be a millionaire. Save the links and use over and over. Highly motivating!
Great way to get students started in organizing thoughts into words and posts. Excellent way to join and communicate with other teachers to share and collaborate with.
Edmodo is a great resource. I have used it with my classes for 2 years. There is so much you can do with this site! I still haven't mastered everything that is available. It is also a great way to build your PLN by joining other groups. I love that it includes the ability to award badges. Kids are highly engaged with Edmodo and really enjoy posting to each other. I think this resource is equally shared between teachers and students, but even if you don't use it with your class, it is still a great way to connect with other educators around the world. Other than Facebook, which is less desirable because of the lack of teacher control, I am not aware of any similar resources for classroom teachers.
I like the teacher control I can have and the collaborative environment. The security and control that makes it good is also it's limitation in exposure to the outside world.
Could be used as a learning management system! Lessons, games, and activities are linked to my textbook. Interactive and allows me to be a part of a learning community and share ideas, resources, and lessons.
Science educator blog. She shares lots of lesson plans on many topics for science teachers. Great ideas to implement engaging lessons in your science class.
Hands down, this is my absolute favorite to do list! It is VERY easy to use and has so many options for sharing, linking, connecting any of your content. Their Android app is very good quality too!
Kenton - This looks like a powerful tool for teachers and students alike in productivity! I can see myself using this to stay organized with tasks that I need to complete and encouraging students to use it.
I watched a video and it said you can share tasks with others. I think this would be helpful to be the teacher and share the "to do list" with the whole class. Can you tell if this is a possibility?
I love the chrome extension so it is available at an easy click through my email and my main screen (we're a google and chromebook school, so it's nice to find things that work well with those. I also like the app features on other devices.
As I expand my social media life, I see TweetDeck as the logical tool to manage my Twitter feeds, whether to following a particular user or a subject. For now, I see this more as a teacher tool than student tool being able to follow classroom feeds, hashtags, and multiple Twitter accounts. It would be much more useful on a computer with a large monitor, but it certainly beats having an extra browser tabs open. I could see students perhaps using this application to follow their classroom feeds, but likely with limited use. I have not seen this type of application before. I was hooked on it right away.
Thanks for sharing!
