Hello everyone who is part of the Whiteboard Challenge! Just wanted to touch base now that it's the end of week 1. There is still one more week to go for Challenge 1 - please favourite your challenge blog posts here and make sure you tag them with 'whiteboardchallenge'.

I'm the one who set Challenge 1 so if you need a hand with anything please don't hesitate to get in touch.

I'm looking forward to reading how you used sound with your students and how you got them to create something with it too.

Oh, and if you haven't started the challenge yet because school's not back, it's ok to catch up once you've got a chance - or skip challenges completely. (Though you do need to complete them all to be in the running for the Flip Video :-)

    Happy whiteboarding!
    Jess

Hi everyone who has signed up for the Whiteboard Challenge!

Just to let you know that the start date has been pushed back a week for a few reasons:

    1. So we can officially launch the challenge at the IWBnet conference in Melbourne
    2. Because the northern hemisphere are still on holidays (slackers! ;-)
    3. To give the Task Masters a little more time to prep their vids (well, that would be me...)

We also thought a bit of a change in structure would work well too - instead of each challenge being 1 week, we've made it 2 weeks per challenge (which means the whole thing running for 14 weeks!) and instead of just you, the teacher, using the new tool and blogging about what activity you did, you have to get your students to create something with the new tool and blog about that as well (all part of the same post if you like). So, there will be two elements to your blog post - what you did with the kids, and what the kids did with the kids - if that's possible. I know some of you probably have really little people who aren't going to be able to manage it, and that's fine.

One last thing - THERE WILL BE A PRIZE!!!!! Yes, Edsoft have kindly donated 1 FLIP VIDEO to the lucky winner (I wasn't planning on their being winners, but seeing as the prize was offered I thought I'd take it). That person has to have completed every challenge and there will be something else to measure the winner by, but I'll get back to you on that one...

Thank you all for coming aboard the challenge. I'm really surprised and pleased to see how much attention and interest it got!

so, get your whiteboards ready, we are taking off on Friday - August 15.

    Yours in all things IWB,
    Jess

Are you using an IWB regularly but know you could use it better? Are you new to using an interactive whiteboard (IWB)? Have you used one for ages but want some other ideas? Then you are invited to join the Whiteboard Challenge!

    Whiteboard Challenge Wiki

    The aim of this challenge:
To improve the use of interactive whiteboards in the classroom and to stimulate more discussion about how they can best be used.

    What the challenge involves:

This Interactive Whiteboard Challenge will run for 7 weeks initially, starting on Monday August 11th. Each week there will be a new task set by someone who is an experienced whiteboard user. They will present their challenge in whatever way they like - it might be a short video, a screen cast a podcast. You then need to go and use whatever they have presented in your classroom that week. Record your efforts and write a blog post about how you went. At the end of the challenge you will have 7 blog posts about your whiteboard practice, and lots of other blog posts on similar topics available to you to read. Title your blog post 'Whiteboard Challenge Week 1' etc or something very similar so it is easy for others to identify your post.

    Hey Lisa,

Good thought! Hadn't got to that yet. Have just set it to use tags already on existing links. Do you think that's a good function or would it be better to create a specified dictionary? I wouldn't want to be too restrictive that's all I suppose. thoughts?
