I am saving this article to my Diigo library as soon as I am done typing this comment. I can use this article as a teacher and as a parent. There are suggestions in this article for things that parents can do to get their children involved in coding during the summer. There are also resources on the page for starting coding clubs and other articles on coding that I plan to read. The article had an important quote that I want use as I encourage teachers at my school to give coding a try in their classrooms: "Coding is the new literacy. It will not replace foreign languages, but it will be the global vernacular for understanding how technologies work". I then clicked on a link below the article that took me to another article called teaching Coding: Where Do You Start? Within the article I found another great article on the site about importance of computer science education. This resource will be very helpful to me as I continue on embark on my coding journey. Thank you for sharing it!

This is a great article and after reading it, I realize even more why I need to teach digital citizenship lesson that include the use of social media to my students. There are some great ideas for using social media in the classroom that I want to try out. I want to try out having my students do a podcast at some point this year and I also want to have my students blog. I am going to share this with a colleague of mine that I know will love the information in this article and want to join me in bringing social media into our classrooms.

I really liked this website. It was actually one that I almost shared with this group because I liked it. I think it is important to know how to implement social media in the classroom because it is so prevalent in our society. I think this website will be used by teachers because they are the ones who will be deciding how they will bring social media in lessons. I have seen other websites that can help implement social media into the classroom. I have shared that website to this group.

This is a pretty great Edutopia article. I hope some of the information will help me when implementing social media in the classroom!

This website is what I strive to base my teaching off of in the future! It offers great tips on what a classroom should look like for teachers soon to be out in the field!

Although this post relates directly on math, I think it hits on a larger need to make sure students understand what a question is asking them and really think about the purpose of the question.

In reading this post, I felt like I was teaching my 7th grade math students. I don't know how many times I try to restate a something to get them to UNDERSTAND the problem. I think many students just want the quick and simple... how do I solve it. To them, it doesn't matter what or why they are doing something.

I definitely enjoyed this article. I liked reading novels as a whole group, but it was difficult if only half the class did the reading and the other half just messed around. A good resource for teachers to take a look at and consider. I agree that the reflection from all students is necessary, but that could be done without having to read the novel as a whole. If students don't read the book, it's on their own shoulders...

This was very interesting to read. I agreed with many of the point made by the author and I think that this article can help me as I continue to work to engage students in reading. I read aloud a novel to my 6th classes for the to just enjoy listening to. We are also currently doing a whole class novel study of Holes. I agree with the author of the article that there is room for both whole class reading of a novel and choice time. I have my student independently read a book of their choice, and we have a set aside time a few times a week where everyone in the class reads. Currently my 7th grade Literature students are reading a novel of their choice and I am just requiring that they write reading response letters to me and it has been going very well. They are engaged in reading and able to read at their own pace. I gave them a deadline for when they need to have their books finished, but it is on them to decided how much to read each week. Choice and voice are very important. This is a great resource that I can share with teachers in my collaborative teacher team.

This website is a good resource for all teachers and future teachers. There is a teacher toolbox that has free lesson plans and digital resources. There is a button for diversity in the classroom and that helps give you ideas on bringing cultural understanding in your classrooms.

1. I could see myself using something like this with a future class. Right now, its all about access, access, access! (and I don't always have it) If I add this, I want to be able to do it more than a day or two every other week... 2. The resource is mostly for teacher use...it considers issues a teacher might want to consider before implementing coding in their curriculum, along with support issues they might need help with later. 3. There are other resources out there for teachers -- I have looked at code.org (for example) as they provide a lot of lesson plans/etc. that can be used by teachers in their classrooms.

While I don't think I would used in my future classrooms per say. I am however interested in learning to code for myself. Also, having a 1st grader and a preschooler, I think this would be helpful to start teaching them to code. This resource is mainly for teacher use, but the curriculums listed on this site would be used by students. Another resource I have heard about through a coder friend is DeltaVCode 101 course. I know they are offering a class starting soon in CR very soon.

This will be a helpful tool for me to use in my ELP classrooms. I have found that coding is an area of both interest and strength for many of my students. I have found that some like to stick with the apps and resources that they are comfortable with and others like to try new things. This will help me offer those students what they need.

I use this website often for teaching my kids about digital citizenship.

This is one of the resources that I have been hearing a lot about lately and I think that it will help every teacher get lessons and activities to do with the students.
