In my last professional experience, laptops (and direct internet access) were used as subsitutes for textbooks. This was a highly effective as students remain engaged throughout the entire lesson and it was a great experience to be able to integrate technology into every lesson.
Children work collabortively with their peers. This is a pedagogical appraoch that I believe is essential in all aspects of the educational environment.
Individual use of ICT in the classroom is the way of the future. This picture just shows one example of the increase in student engagement that using ICT's facilitates.

In all 3 of my pracs I have seen the Smartboard utilised very well as a teaching tool.Most teachers allowed the students to participate in lessons on the board.The kids helped me use it!
