A number of students, while reasonably proficient in English, even though they had been NESB learners, may still have lacked some confidence in handling the level of language in the text. Barbara Day, a teacher with over 25 years of experience, is incorporating ICT's and making her resources available through blogging her daily and previous experiences in the classrooms of America. She provides her blog readers, intricate and useful stepping stones to incorporating ICT's into classroom activities.

Ms Cassidy's Classroom blog- involves the blogs of what specific activities her class of six year olds get up to on a daily bases. This class is inviting the world into their classroom by sharing their thoughts and ideas to us all. I believe Ms Cassidy is a teacher that wants to show her students the difference between schools and what they do as a class.

I like the idea of using these Ipad apps in particular *Educreations; this can be used in the classroom as a recordable whiteboard and the opportunity to put lessons on the web so students can watch them before and after class, parents can see them and can learn with child or they can reinforce the newly learnt concepts. * Toonastic; I can see this being used for reluctant writers with children with special needs where they can create animated moving pictures and record their voice to their story.

This is great, have just downloaded some onto the ipad!! I will keep a look out for more apps.

Inspiration Software provides programs to enable teachers and students to create visual learning aids through many methods. Under each tab, the benefits of each visual aid and suggestions of how to use the aids in a classroom environment are offered.

That must have been frustrating for you but please understand writing unit plans is an important skill and will help you engage with the curriculum and develop as an educator.

This teacher posts activities that incorporate ICT into her lessons and she comments on the responses from her students. There's a cool movie on a recent post regarding a student's perception on homework, quite funny! She also provides resources that can be used in her lessons, and these can be found on the her TeachersPayTeachers page.

The beginning of this clip introduces Leah Lacrosse, a 5th grade science teacher who uses iPads in her classroom. Leah has a blog (url is given in the introduction) in which she discusses ways of using various iPad apps for teaching science. The blog also contains examples of what she has done with her class.

ICT and the Early Years

Hi, I liked reading your article about bringing ICT into the early years education and how it can work as another teacher. In Australian schools as most pre-service teachers and if you are a parent would probably know. The children are using Reading Eggs and Matheletics. My children are in years 1 and 3 and have found these programs easy to follow and navigate through the levels with a lot of success in their learning. They can also log-in on our home computer to extend their learning further. Programs such as these are a great tool in encouraging the skills of reading and learning maths without overloading them with too much computer time.
