    Here is a link that is used extensively at my daughter's school with great success. You can set up a personalised learning journey in many different curriculum strands that the student can follow both in class and at home. It can be enough to last the week for homework, the term or even the whole year. There is a built in reward system too.

    I can see this being used with small groups of students for collaboration, it's simplicity would lend itself well to primary school. However after playing around with it and creating 2 accounts and joining a private notebook I found the process slow. So for a whole class collaboration application I would suggest using WikiSpaces: http://www.wikispaces.com/

    I read this article today and it made me think about the 'older' generations and how they cope with the new technology. It isn't going to be long and we'll become the 'older' generation. How long until we are overwhelmed with a variety of 'new' technologies we can't cope and just go back to our 'old' ways, in this case sending a letter. I'm sure some children have never sent a letter through the post office!! I also love the offer of the CEO to help teach the gentleman how to use online shopping!!

    Fair comment about the letter at the post office, but according to my own kids "the post office is where you pick up stuff from ebay" so I guess the concept is still there just the context has changed.

    Unfortunately are lot of teachers are "the older generation" as far as classroom practices are concerned. Often using technology means booking a computer labs to allow students to type their assignments (so they can read their hand writing); allowing students to email completed work instead of handing in paper copies or using a data projector to show the class a power point presentation.

    I like the idea of using these Ipad apps in particular *Educreations; this can be used in the classroom as a recordable whiteboard and the opportunity to put lessons on the web so students can watch them before and after class, parents can see them and can learn with child or they can reinforce the newly learnt concepts. * Toonastic; I can see this being used for reluctant writers with children with special needs where they can create animated moving pictures and record their voice to their story.

      Here, here, I so agree with you Jackie so often parents only find themselves in school to make a complaint or the like never have I seen a parent just wanting to spend time in their childs classroom just to see. It would be beneficial for all if there were time when this could happen.

      Connections with parents is important. In fact, it's one of the AITSL professional standards. But I wonder why parents don't spend more time in their child's classroom? I'm sure there would be many parents (but perhaps not all) who want to be more involved with their child's education, but who can't for various reasons.  I wonder if we can make it easier for them to be involved?

      Equality is something that would be missed in a flipped classroom. With the cost of living increasing not all families are going to afford the technology that a flipped classroom requires students to have access to at home.

      Wouldn't lack of equality be bridged if the students who didn't have access to the internet went to school early or stayed back a bit later to listen to the videos. If there was supervision, what difference would it make being at school or at home for the video presentation?

      I agree with a comment made above too, that maybe the school day needs to be re-arranged if a flipped classroom pedagogy is going to be introduced - give students time during normal school hours to watch the videos then have the classroom discussion
