Learning effectiveness of applying automated music composition software in the high grades of elementary school - 0 views

  • The paper is mainly to explore the automated music composition experiences for the students in the high grades of elementary school who are unfamiliar with the professional music theory. The proposed Automated Composition for Music Education (ACME) software was developed to help the students to compose the rhythm and melody themselves, while chord configuration and arrangement are automatically generated.
  • Finally the students in the experimental group using the ACME teaching materials showed a better learning effectiveness at both reaction level and learning level, than those of the students in the comparison group

Educational Leadership:Feedback for Learning:Seven Keys to Effective Feedback - 5 views

  •
Lot of insights in here that EDC3100 needs to take to heart.
  •
I recall seeing this in another course and kept the link in my UNI FAVOURITES folder (which is now a fairly sizable resource...). Two things I took again from this article, was 1. The joy of going back and listening to John Hattie and 2. the Feedback Essentials - "Whether feedback is just there to be grasped or is provided by another person, helpful feedback is goal-referenced; tangible and transparent; actionable; user-friendly (specific and personalized); timely; ongoing; and consistent. I always kept this in the back of my mind and it never fails to flag when FEEDBACK is mentioned.

Pedagogical content knowledge and preparation of high school physics teachers - 0 views

This PDF relates to the pedagogical content knowledge to teach science and specifically physics. I like how it also touches on the need for teachers to understand effective assessment methods (primarily in science reports and inquiries). This information for year 11 and 12 is found in the syllabus, however, for year 10 9 8 and 7 we need to look at the verbs in the content descriptors and see what we actually want students to do by the end and make a judgement based on that.

Interesting article on how apps are being trailed in classrooms in 2013. Five apps are recommended and I have had positive experiences with Edmodo in particular as it is being used by my sons teachers.
  •

  •
Thanks Taylor. I saw some of your suggestions too and am adding your Brain pop resource to my tool belt. I have seen this used in classrooms- very effective on smart boards especially for visual and kinaesthetic learners. I saw Brain pop used for a Unit on 'tall buildings'. The explanations, quiz, printout and games were a very engaging part of the lesson.

TPACK | ~ Vinah's Blog ~ - 1 views

  •
Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge , known for short as TPACK, is a framework used to understand and describe the kinds of knowledge needed by a Teacher for effective pedagogical practice in a technologically enhanced learning environment. The idea of pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) was first described by Lee Shulman (1986) and TPACK builds on those core ideas through the inclusion of technology (Wikipedia, 2013).

In my last professional experience, laptops (and direct internet access) were used as subsitutes for textbooks. This was a highly effective as students remain engaged throughout the entire lesson and it was a great experience to be able to integrate technology into every lesson.
