Here in Malaysia, at our school, we have moved away from using a computer lab. We wanted to integrate ICT into the class more, rather than it being seen as a stand alone subject.
We now have a laptop trolley that moves from class to class. We are currently building into our school plan a laptop trolley per year group. The debate has come up about whether we should move to 1:1 - it's an ongoing, heated discussion!
I am in the process of setting up a class blog project for Y1 and Y5 students. The students are really enthusiastic about it, but the parents have been luke-warm. I saw it as a way to give the parents access to the classroom, as they often feedback that they do not feel included.
I am still going to forge ahead though - they key element is that the students love showcasing their learning. My next step is to have them commenting on each other's work (positively!) as well as having teachers hi-five what they're seeing.
