I'm loving animated historical maps at the moment, and there are an increasing number available around the place. This one focuses on American involvement in the Pacific during World War and the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Lots of fun!

You'll also learn about the California Gold Rush of 1848, and California's admission as a state, which necessitated the Compromise of 1850. Once more slavery is a crucial issue. Something is going to have to be done about slavery, I think. Maybe it will come to a head next week.

The images are organised around themes and can be viewed in very high resolution. Very interesting to see too that even 65 years ago Japanese people always had immaculate hair all the time. Amazing.
