I, too, wrestled a bit with some of the Diigo features. I like the site, and it is really simple to use. However, when it comes to highlighting, it seems much harder than it should. What should operate like a simple click and drag seems to highlight some words while not highlighting others, or at times, I'd find myself highlighting an entire paragraph without even knowing it. I love the sticky note feature, though at times, it was difficult to move the sticky notes to where I wanted them to be on the web page. I also found navigation of the actual site a bit difficult at times, as I would often have to click on my name at the top to bring back a page in which I could select My Groups, Library, etc. Overall, I would say that Diigo could work great as an educational tool, but some of those minor kinks need to be worked out. As far as a bookmarking site, it seemed typical and I like others, am more used to Delicious, so I am not sure that I would make the switch based on what I saw here.

I actually made a couple of groups to get the feel for it, and I have a lot of varied interests so I thought I'd make an astronomy group for those who are interested in that and then one that deals with lyrics in songs, which might appeal to more individuals.

    For Astronomy Buffs:

I suggest a discussion on good Astronomy apps, so you probably know the best places to start depending on your device.

Those who enjoy lyrics in music:

Lyrics.com is a good place to start, but there are places to find lyrics all over the internet. Enjoy!

A few webpages that I find interested linked and completed with notes:

    Hello Class,

    My profile link: http://www.diigo.com/profile/tiecolli

I love to spend hours on Wikipedia looking up one thingor another. I am fascinated withweather, so I spend a lot of time researching the different tornadooutbreaks. One of the Wiki pages I lovelists all of the official F5 and EF5 tornadoes in the country as well as theones that likely were but for one reason or another were not. You will see on my page that I have addedsome notes of the more interesting storms.

Additionally, this always leads me to look at theunbelievable tornado outbreak that occurred in April of this year. I remember this vividly, not because itdirectly affected me, but because I watched it develop and watched itoccur. Nearly one week before hand, Ihad looked at computer models (I am a bit of a weather nerd, so I look at allsorts of models and radar data, stuff like that) and the set up for the nextweek was unbelievably close to the set up in April of 1974, which is known asthe Super Outbreak. I grew up hearingabout the Super Outbreak, thinking that I'd never see anything like it in mylifetime. So, immediately when modelswere spitting information and the set up nearly matched that of the weatherpattern on that day in 1974, it caught my attention. But, long term weather models are oftenunreliable, so I did not think that anything like that would come to fruition. Not only did a major outbreak similar to the74 outbreak occur, it exceeded it on nearly every level. It was an unbelievable day. I actually saw what was left of the damage inTuscaloosa on my way down to New Orleans over the summer, and while I traveleddown I65 in Alabama, I counted no less than 20 spots where I could seetornadoes had crossed the highway.

I have made it no secret that at 31 years old, I lovevideo games. I love them as much as Idid when I first discovered them. Ioften use IGN as a resource to see if I want to purchase a game or not. So, I wanted to make some notes on one oftheir reviews to sort of show how my thought process work. Recently, Nintendo released Legend of Zelda:Skyward Sword. I was assuming that Iwould get the game, but the review confirmed my desire to have it:

Finally, I thought I would just take a look at CNN. Not my favorite site, but I had a bit of funin some criticisms and such. Overall, Ithink these are wonderful tools and any number of instructors might be able toassign reading for their students, assigning the students to add notes as theyread. It shows they are reading andcomprehending the subject.

    Hello Class,

I hope I am okay in going a different direction. There are plenty of poems that I have relatedto, but I think that song can be a powerful form of poetry as well. Well, lyrics in a song, that is. So, I decided to take a look at "Spoon" byDave Matthews of the Dave Matthews Band. My Bookmark can be found here:

Years ago, before I knew much about the Dave MatthewsBand, this song came on while I was waiting for my wife (then girlfriend) toget done with a course at Purdue. Istruggle with religion. I was raisedChristian, taught that there was a right and wrong, and that no matter what, other religions were wrong. Obviously,as I have grown, my mind has expanded as well. It doesn't make sense to me. Aone size fits all? That can't be. If you don't believe in Christianity, you can'tgo to Heaven? Tribes in Africa have noidea what Christianity is. If you areraised in an Islamic family, you are going to believe in Islam. So, it bothersme. And, people's denial of evolutionalso is troubling for me. The theory ofevolution? Opponents argue about theword "theory" in that phrase. But, dothese people know what a scientific theory is? We still have the theory of gravity. Do people argue this?

I consider myself agnostic. I don't know the deeper things in life. I have no issue with those who practice areligion as long as they don't pass judgment on those who don't. I won't pretend to know the answers to thecomplex universe. Is there a higherbeing? Who am I to say. But, who am I to say that there isn't? There might be 13 different dimensions thatwe don't even know about. I can't beginto wrap my mind around that. And, thatis why I love the words in this song. They aren't criticizing, necessarily. Rather, they are questioning. Ithink we, as humans, always need to question. Faith is great. However, it isnot for everyone.

I love the setting in the song to. I just picture an individual, sipping a cupof coffee in a coffee shop and thinking, reflecting, and questioning. In the end, the individual gets up and has nomore answers than he/she came in with. Isn't this life?
