Does anybody know much about KPCB? Here are some good statistics about mobile internet trends from February. They also have this article http://www.kpcb.com/insights/internet-trends-2011 from the Web 2.0 Summit in San Fran just last week. Just curious as to their background and credibility. Published February 2011 by Matt Murphy and Mary Meeker This multimedia presentation co-authored by KPCB partners Matt Murphy and Mary Meeker outlines and analyzes the top 10 trends defining the current worldwide mobile Internet industry.

"Technology in education is one of the "prominent technology trends expected to influence the consumer electronics (CE) industry in the years ahead," according to the 2013 edition of "Five Technology Trends to Watch," a report released this week by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). The other four tech trends identified were the future of 3D printing, next-generation TVs and displays, the evolution of the audio market, and the mobile revolution in Africa." Basically goes on to state that parents and students support more ed tech (which I think has come up in a couple other articles, too).

A look at how ed tech has evolved from 2011 - 2012.

HKUST has been ranked No. 1 University in Asia miraculously only 20 years since its founding thanks to its cutting-edge management philosophy. And now it has become the very first to join the global trend of moving classrooms online. I look forward to more participation and collaboration in online classrooms from Asia and other parts of the world.

A news story from Cornell talking about integrating mobile devices into higher ed...paints an unfortunate, yet realistic picture of the discrepancies between research/trends and practice  

Before he publishes the actual 2012 review, is reflecting on what he wrote one year ago. (the ten things he highlighted last year was the ipad, social media, text-messaging, data, the digital library, khan academy, STEM, higher education bubble, "open", the business of ed-tech) Personally interested in programming literacy part that is expected to be mentioned. Also like the questions presented at the end. 

An interesting article on how resistant to change different types of organizations are. Educational institutions rank pretty highly resistant. Though it is interesting to note that businesses rank the most adaptive (non resistant)--so the education technology and startup trend may be a good sign!

Interesting. from where I am from (=Japan), business organizations with long history with the majority of employees committed until retirement age of 60 (slowly this is changing though), maybe NPO and even government (with so much shuffling going on) would rank higher...

The author makes a good point that heightened market competition seems to contribute to reduced resistance. I noticed that the more-resistant organizations operate in more highly regulated markets, which would seem to create internal cultures more oriented to compliance and, thus, resistance.

Not necessarily education related but extensive research/data on current trend in pc/mobile. (was created probably for those involved in media and marketing)
