I clicked through some related articles on this one a little bit, and it's worth following up on. I want to know how this treaty plans to address spam and cyberattacks. It is certainly high-time for this treaty to be updated, if it has truly not happened since 1988. The internet is certainly important enough to warrant further discussion, but I feel as if I'm speaking out of turn. I do not know what other treaty exist regarding internet based telecommunication in the UN.

The DHL's Global Connectedness report is interesting. The pillar is composed of trade/capital/information/people. Total rank of connectedness: US 20th. Each page for country analysis is helpful to think about kind of education is required for each country's future growth. 

European scientists have integrated robotics, video, and various sensor and display technologies to transport someone into a geographically distant meeting room under the auspices of the Beaming through augmented media for natural networked gatherings (Beaming) project. The European Union-funded effort utilizes immersive virtual reality technologies in which a robotic avatar functions as the meeting participant's eyes, ears, and mouth. The participant wears a head-mounted display and is connected to sensors, enabling them to receive the avatar's video and audio feeds in three dimensions. The two-way connection also enables the participant's movements and responses to be mimicked by the robot.

Interesting  plan coming out of "Leading Education by Advancing Digital Commission" meeting last week.  

Through an example of the University of the People (online, tuition-free, non profit university), the article highlights the hardships such organization face to be successful in achieving their vision/mission. Credibility issue for online university issued certificate is also mentioned.   

Summer Davos happened this week. A quick highlight from there that is related to our field. Nothing much new in the article itself but WEF is connecting the importance of improving current education with youth employment issue. the word AR is also used within this article.

A new iPad app uses immersive technology to convey a richer video experience.

Looks like a great app. I can imagine it being applied in a lot of ways. I see that "The app turns specially encoded video into a virtual reality experience", which means that you need specially recorded video. This may limit the absorption of the app.

Not only do we need technologists but some of the best teachers to work together so that great ideas to come to fruition. I would love to see some sort of match up system (kinda like there is for finding co-founders) for teachers and tech people.

This is a classic example of making a bad situation worse with a stupid response

Xu and I discussed this article in class/section. We had similar thoughts ;unfortunate as it is, this is a case of eliminating the effect and not the real cause. Perhaps this article does not fully reveal details but hopefully a real solution is being put into place...quickly.

The LA Board of Education will be meeting later this month to discuss providing iPads to every student + teacher in the nation's 2nd largest school system.

This site lists educational games by category. There is no feed for updates (at least, I haven't found one) and games listed vary greatly in quality and educational merit. The site is hard to navigate due to poor design and doesn't seem to update very frequently

Cool Site! What an easy way to see what has been explored and was in the works. It seemed as though Health and Language acquisition were big topics.

Digital Media Conference 2011 is happening at Irvine CA! and they've invited proposals for papers
