Breast cancer manifests as a harmless tumor at the early stage of development is of two types. These are the malignant tumor, which is life threatening, and the benign tumor, which is a harmless tumor.

In treating these tumors, the doctor must first understand the type of tumor he is about to remove in order to get the desired result. The approach here is to first remove a small portion of the abnormal tissue, and send it to a pathologist for a microscopic examination, in order to know the exact nature of the tumor. All these will take place while the patient is still lying down on the operating table. When the result is out, the doctor will now know the next line of action to take.

Cancer occurs in different ways, but most or all of them appears as tumors. This is the reason some doctors are of the opinion that it is better to have all tumors examined, whether they show signs of cancer or not, and that they should be removed at the earliest stage if there is any sign or trace of cancer in them. Any long-continued sores on the skin or on the mucous membranes of the body must be examined with the appropriate methods, and if it proves malignant, should be treated immediately without any further delay. Some of the signs to watch out for as signs of cancer are:

    1) A persistent lump or thickening in tissue, especially in the lip, tongue or breast.

    2) When there is an irregular bleeding or blood-tinged discharge from any body opening, including the nipple.

    3) Any sore that does not heal, especially when it is located in the mouth, tongue or lips.

    4) Constant indigestion or loss of appetite, especially in people over fifty years of age.

    5) When you notice a sudden or rapid changes in the form, appearances or rate of growth of a mole or wart.

    6) When you notice a constant change from normal in a bowl action.

    7) Persistent hoarseness, cough, soreness deep in the throat or finding it difficult in swallowing things.

One thing to note is that pain is not common at the early stages of cancer development, but when the nerve tissue is invaded, or pressed upon, pain will occur. We are not trying to say that one should wait till he or she begins to notice pain before treating a case that looks cancerous, this might result in treating a case very late. Ulceration and secondary infection are common in many cancers, and this causes fever and other general symptoms of infections. Increased anemia, pallor, weakness and emaciation are the most common characteristics of these late signs of cancer, and they are not always easy to explain. They all come late, in the part of the body where there is an attack of cancer. So, waiting to notice them before taking action can really be disastrous.

Hypertension: - 12 views

Hypertension is most often called or referred to as the silent killer. This is because, somebody may have this disease and will not know that he is having such disease. The blood level of any man depends on the amount of blood that the heart can pump, and the level of resistance the heart has to pump against that present in the arteries. Blood pressure varies and may increase with activity or decrease at rest. It may also vary slightly with each heart beat. If hypertension is left uncontrolled, it could lead to other life threatening health problems. Most people suffering hypertension cannot actually point out to a particular symptom. At the early stage, the patient may just notice slight headaches, but in advanced stages, dizziness and nose bleeds may occur.

It is highly recommended that simple tests be carried out, at least once in two years, to check the blood pressure. When hypertension is as a result of an underlying cause, it is referred to as secondary hypertension. This underlying cause may be as a result of Kidney or Adrenal diseases, Thyroid disorders, abnormal blood vessels, Sleep Apnea and pre-eclampsia. Certain drugs such as oral contraceptives, decongestants and pain relievers may also lead to secondary hypertension. Hard drugs like cocaine and amphetamines may increase blood pressure also. Primary hypertension develops gradually over a period of time, but secondary hypertension develops rapidly with high pressure readings. This disease is not commonly found in children except in rare occasions, and this may be as a result of some underlying condition. To know if hypertension has occurred, the blood pressure is measured with a device called sphyg momanometer, which is made up of an inflatable arm cuff and a pressure-measuring device. This blood reading consists of two numbers known as systolic and diastolic numbers, which appears at upper and lower part of the measuring instrument. The upper number (systolic number), measures the amount of pressure in the arteries between heartbeats and when the heart is at rest. When there is a record of below 120/80mmHg the blood pressure is said to be normal, though of recent, a lower level of 115/80mmHg is also considered acceptable and normal readings. When there is a rise of the blood pressure above the normal level, the risk of cardiovascular disease increases.

Blood pressures found in pre-hypertension reads between 120-139mmHg systolic, and 80-89mmHg diastolic. In stage 1, hypertension readings range between 140-159mmHg systolic and 90-99mmHg diastolic. Stage (2) hypertension is the most severe form of hypertension and comes with systolic pressure of 160mmHg or even more and a diastolic pressure of 100mmHg and above.

Diabetes causes a lot of damage to the body. It damages the pancreas, weakens the kidneys and causes blindness among other problems. However, quality treatment ,especially with the use of herbs, strengthens the kidneys, repairs the pancreas and restores the overall health of the patient. Herbal treatment of diabetes stops sugar and glucose from mixing with the urine, and helps the patient to maintain a normal body balance. Some factors to note in the treatment of diabetes are: Insulin dependent diabetes are more difficult to treat than non-insulin dependent diabetes. Also, worthy of note here is that those that developed diabetes at the ages of 50years and above, responds to the treatment of diabetes faster than those below the age of 40 years. While treating insulin-dependent diabetes, it is recommended that the patient should combine herbal treatment with injection for four weeks. This is to reduce the volume of the insulin content in the body, after which, the injection should be stopped, and the herbal treatment will continue.
