Range of games for literacy on the IWB or online.

Smories is a website with short videos of children reading original stories for kids. There are 50 new Smories added every month. Writers are encouraged to submit their original children's stories to be featured on the website. The stories are advertised as being suitable for children aged three to eight although there are many stories that would also appeal to children older than eight. This site offers a great way to model reading with expression and can also be used as a comprehension activity. Encourage the students to picture the story in their mind as they listen. Listening to Smories is also a good way to revise the features of a narrative.

A wonderful easy to understand interactive site about Area and Perimeter

Information on area and perimeter. It has some good stuff for solving questions on the IWB. Has explanations for how to work it out too.

Good website for games for kids to play on IWB to practice their times tables.

This is a website aimed at upper primary students and made by NASA. It has various games and activities that can be individual or whole class activities. It is good for any design activities. Worth a look!

A great introduction to cyber safety. Focusing on surf smart, cyber bullying, and different forms of media. Children can watch a short movie to watch, followed by interactive whiteboard game, with a small conclusion at the end. Lots of fun!

Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? from the TV show. SIgn up and the children and you can play it on the IWB last 5 minutes of the day or a great beginning of the day activity. Actual questions from the show.

A wet- day time table day winner!

Great website to use when planning and making Christmas menus and dinners with the children and pricing items. Very interactive.

Fun number based games- particularly popular with the boys in my class. Games work on division, addition, multiplication and subtraction of simple numbers. When you select a game, make sure select- the create game tab- which will just take you to a new game instead of an existing one.

Game for helping to teach skip counting- from by ones all the way to 12. Children move up in levels as they get better.

Children have to problem solve where the hidden number is on the hundreds chart. Lots of fun!

Just like power point only a tad more exciting! Easy to use and very popular with children. Just be careful, there are a few pop up adds, and when children have to chose a song to accompany their presentation, selection will need to be carefully monitored.

This site enables children to create a character, then record a message for the character to read out. Watch out though, if there are any spelling mistakes etc... what you wanted you character to say ends up sounding a little bit odd! Interesting to include in a range of literacy activities.
