It mentions that since Edward Snowden released information about the NSA's digital surveillance power, a lot of measures have been taken to restrict government surveillance. However, since the Paris attacks, the US government is pushing to bring that power back.

The video/information slides are obviously carried out with bias, but the information is still there. The end of the article has some interesting (helpful?) information about what the judicial system is ruling on cases involving location tracking without warrants.

Interesting article about how recent terror events will change how individuals and tech companies monitor/ regulate use on the internet, but not the government

Focusing on the consequences of the Patriot Act and how the US government upped the security on civilians after 9/11, this is a really nice graphic that gives a scary visual on the expanded powers of the national government in the name of security. It's from the ACLU, so this gives a pretty good perspective of, specifically, curbed liberties.

PBS interview showing two sides of the security vs. privacy debate as it applies to the recent attacks in Paris, and all current issues of terrorism and a lack of information even with warrants. Gives a lot of good quotes from reputable sources that can be used to strengthen and support arguments.

This article goes over America's security and privacy trade-off, especially after 9/11. The author argues that we have done an excellent job keeping a balance between these two approaches and, while actions such as the Paris attack may make us question if we should add more security, there is no reason to take away the privacy we have as since 9/11 we have been doing a good job of valuing both of these aspects.

"The Domestic Surveillance Directorate - If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear." Should the government have such free reign over our personal information, or should we be able to keep our data encrypted and hidden from the government to respect our personal rights?

Recently China blocked the Facebook app "Whatsapp," and I find this interesting because by the decision of their government, they can decide your intake of content from the outside world and where to cut it off. Some parts of this relate to Cryptography because people have become very creative in getting around firewalls and accessing blocked sites anyways.
