Video: Founding Fathers: Who Were They and What Happened to Them? | Watch PBS NewsHour ... - 1 views

  •
A PBS video about what happened to the founding fathers who signed the Declaration of Independence.  I think students would find this interesting so they can see how signing this document really did impact the lives of these men.  Would be a nice conclusion to teaching it as it is only 8:00 minutes long.

The Supreme Court . The First Hundred Years . Landmark Cases | PBS - 1 views

  •
Simple and short writings on major Supreme Court cases.  Very good when you need a quick description of the importance of  a case or a handout reading for the class.  This is part of PBS and their section on Supreme Court history.

PBS: Ancestors in America - 1 views

Another good resource site and interesting lesson plans that focus on the Chinese experience in America. This could provide more background information for you as you get into the Chinese Exclusion Act and how citizenship was denied to Asian Americans for many years.

WGBH American Experience . Eleanor Roosevelt | PBS - 1 views

  •
This is a great article that depicts Woodrow Wilson's arrival for his inauguration in 1913 and how dismayed he was to find there was no crowd. The article gives details on the momentum of the women's movement as a group and not just certain individuals.
  •
I would say this is an article about the development of the women's movement. Eleanor Roosevelt, in her own quiet but interesting way, was quite the supporter of women's rights. While not for student reading at elementary and middle, this article provides great background info.

Great site about George Washington.  Includes links and information on the Constitutional Convention, his personal writings and his farewell address.  Lots of items that can easily be adapted for class.

Constitution USA, with Peter Sagal - 2 views

  •
I am really excited to use this website and all that it has to offer in terms of teaching about the Constitution as a living document. Peter Sagal's journeys across America and reflects on the magnificence and limitations of the Constitution. He speaks in student-friendly language, uses compelling graphics, and addresses ideas that will attract student attention (such as women in sports and how far we have come).

And, there are differentiated guides for middle and high school. Anything coming from PBS is reliable and well-researched.

Constitution USA with Peter Sagal | PBS - 3 views

Tons of good things on this site - videos about government (which I find really hard to locate), interactive games, readings and information about federalism, rights and equality.  There are a lot of resources here, including an entire section for teachers.  I think it is mostly geared towards middle and high school teachers.

Bill Moyer's Becoming American: The Chinese Experience - 1 views

  •
If you click on the resource section on the left side of the website there are great timelines and resources regarding the Chinese in America. There is census data and a list of organizations that can help you with resources. There is a lot to dig through on this site, but worth the effort.

Included is a document description, a transcript, the ten amendments, a timeline and games to play. The games include The Court and Democracy, Law, Power and Personality and The First Hundred Years. Each game begins with a question and then you can scroll over certain areas. Interesting facts in these games.
