This is an interesting NYT article that discusses America's view of the Constitution, and the impact the Constitution had on the rest of the world. It chronicles the ways other countries were impacted by the Constitution. For instance, countries that created Constitutions strikingly similar to the U.S.

Everyone should read this article! It could be the foundation for one of our online sessions. Note the remark: "America is in danger, I think, of becoming something of a legal backwater" .

I love this site! It has text files of constitutions from countless countries as well as our own constitution translated into many of the languages that our ELL population speak.

Interesting concept to have our constitution available so many languages.

Although I didn't use this entire lesson, there are some excellent vocabulary and 'anatomy' of the Constitution PDFs that would work well in lower grades and perhaps with ELL students.  Good overview of the structure of government and the powers and duties of the 3 branches. I feel that there is a lot to take from this lesson to use in class.

I love this game about the Constitutional Convention. It has lots of great videos for students to watch that are entertaining and clearly explain what was going on. Kids go through representing one state and vote on parts on the constitutional convention and then they see how each state actually voted. Some of the links are broken, but most work well. The game takes a while - at least 45 minutes (and is maybe a little too long), but I think kids would be engaged and would walk away with a great base understanding of how the Constitutional Convention went and what it was like to be there.

I am really excited to use this website and all that it has to offer in terms of teaching about the Constitution as a living document. Peter Sagal's journeys across America and reflects on the magnificence and limitations of the Constitution. He speaks in student-friendly language, uses compelling graphics, and addresses ideas that will attract student attention (such as women in sports and how far we have come).

And, there are differentiated guides for middle and high school. Anything coming from PBS is reliable and well-researched.

This is the National Archives' "Charters of Freedom" website. In addition to having full transcriptions of the DOI, Constitution, and Bill of Rights, there are links to many ancillary materials as well. Included in the site are lesson suggestions, other primary source materials, and scholarly essays about the legacy of our Founding Documents.

This site includes many primary resources on the founding documents.  While I think it might be a little overwhelming for students to use, teachers could use the annotated Constitution section which gives excellent notes, information and writings about the Constitution and the BIll of Rights.  It also includes a lot of supporting primary documents that assisted in writing the founding documents.

I wish I had found this site back in September! I really like all of the resources laid out on this website, it's easy to navigate, and something I could imagine letting my students explore too. I especially had fun playing "Which Founder Are You?" Turns out I'm George Mason.

This poem was written to promote passage of the Constitution. It makes the argument that the nation needs a "new roof" (the Constitution) as it's roof is in badly need of repair.

This website provides a great breakdown of the Constitution in kid-friendly language. It can be a great resource for lower achieving students who are trying to tackle the often complex language of the document.

I like this site because it is so available for middle school kids. Well worth bookmarking and using.

This is a somewhat scholarly look at how African Americans, artisans and small farmers viewed the Constitution. Great for your own background or to give honors or AP kids something to think about and wrestle with. Not your typical point of view!

Great site about George Washington.  Includes links and information on the Constitutional Convention, his personal writings and his farewell address.  Lots of items that can easily be adapted for class.

This primary source document inlcudes key sources on the Constitutional government and an introduction that highlights key themes. Included are; The American Founding, Constitutional Government, Progressivism and Liberalism and Conservatism.

These created lessons span K-12. They are all slideshow based and text heavy, but some of the interactives and the links are neat. They could be helpful in developing an introduction to a constitution unit.

This video is straightforward and fascinating, helping to explain issues of apportionment. It really emphasizes the complexity faced by the Supreme Court in trying to interpret and understand the Constitution.
