Wiki how to the rescue? A small guide to some of us embarking on audio remix final projects.

This site tries to categorize how to do a good remix!  I find the idea of a "how to" for remix a little bit hypocritical...

This is a cool interview that basically talks about how to avoid facing a copyright infringement lawsuit!

This google commercial is pretty cool cause it highlights how sites are making it easier for people to collaborate, specifically for music here. Participatory culture?  Also, it's just funny and makes you think about how songs are constructed.

"The chimes were the first ever audio trademark to be accepted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office." How far can the NBC trademark for its chimes be taken? 3 notes. Easy to inadvertently put in a song. How does trademark in this case differ from copyright?

Lessig's interview with Charlie Rose reminded me of this film. Lessig talks about how corrupt our democratic system of government has become and how society has lost its voice, and that is basically what this film is about.

I never knew how all of the spam ads got into google until now!!

I really like this article. It's about a Web Remix art exhibit. The artist isn't sure how long he can keep it running since he knows he's infringing copyrights. But his statement below makes so much sense explaining how web collage is a natural derivation of what's online: ""If you see just one video on YouTube, it doesn't make sense to you," Quaranta explained. But as a collection, a thesis emerges."

This guy takes a bunch of Disney songs and mashes them up.  But he also notes through his visual layout how all of the movies have the same archetypal characters.  It's kinda fun to think about how he put it all together!

Another case of youtube visuals making the audio that much better. The whole song itself is played in the background, though, so I don't know how long this will be online. It depends if YouTube's filters detect the song... Thoughts on how YouTube has criteria for videos like this and whether this should be online?

An article about Black Swan and the controversy about how much of the dancing Natalie Portman actually did and how much she unfairly took credit for. It's like plagiarizing!

How to remix a song for our future class project

This is a pretty cool remix of different scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean made into a song.  I like how it show the image that goes with the lyric too!  And does multiple boxes!!!

Copy right terms around the world--see how the US stacks up to other countries when it comes to length of copyright. 

This is so cute!  But, in relation to class it shows how technology can be used for things outside of the house.  For instance, they used an old cell phone remixed as a gps to find the fallen balloon and train.   Technology, bringing the average human closer to space (corny line).

Bill's blast from the past. It's funny how disconnected a TV persona is from the contemporary life, people, and even expressions (?): "to play us out...what does that even mean?" (I am also about to post a remix of this video).
