This article talks about ways technology can increase learning in several key areas. These key areas include; reading, writing,communication, and critical thinking. I can clearly see how technology would help foster learning of these shkills in the classroom. Visual processes of all sorts can be shown using technology and some students learn best through vizulaization.

This article from MindShift is an excerpt from a new book by Will Richardson titled, "Why School: How Education Must Change When Learning and Information are Everywhere." Richardson is making an argument for not only the use of technology, but for the creation of classroom work that is authentic and meaningful in our changing world. He argues that our teaching practices must change in order to better prepare our learners when they leave the classroom.

This article discusses the future possibility of taking classroom exams on tablets. Tablet manufacturers are slowly providing the necessary security that would be needed to support this change. As with all advance in technology, there are pros and cons that need to be weighed and considered. There is even mention of a future possibility of BYOTD (bring your own testing device).

Great source for this article. As schools begin to move to more devices like the Tablets, this will definitely impact testing. I enjoyed reading about "locking down the device" as more and more tests are taken online.

This article is exactly what the title describes. 10 technologies that educators should know about. I bookmarked another article which dives further into the concept of "flip teaching", which is not so much a technology but a method.

This TED talk will help you frame the objectives for CONTENT plus technology. Watch it to start thinking: Tech Lesson Plan. We will watch it in class if time allows.

I think that this is a great article. I am in an English class right now and we were given an iPad to use for the class but our instructor didnt really now how to use the gadget. This would have been nice to have before we got the technology. The article points out a lot of apps that can be used to help with discovering elements of literature. It also gives examples of apps that can be used for a math class.

There are lots of of "App Lists" out there and it is important to look past the novelty of the iPad and apps and find matches to the content.

I found this article very informative. The article talked about how Nooks were being used in an AP English class and how this form of technology has helped kids get more involved. The students were reading more and enjoying it more than ever. It also discussed the apps and tools the Nook has to offer to make the students reading more effective, like highlighters, dictionary and a way to take notes while reading. I think that anything that gets kids reading more and enjoying it is something we should look more into.

There are grants available for things just like this! Students definitely have their preferences when it comes to reading...Nooks, iPads, iPods, etc. Having different tools to choose from will provide flexibility and differentiation!

This is a great presentation on ways to use different google applications in your classroom. Google provides free applications that are great tools in the classroom. This article gives you real examples of how you can use these tools to fuel learning in your student's daily life.

I have been looking for some good ideas on how to incorporate technology in the classroom to help stimulate discussion on the election. I love Mary Beth's idea of having the kids take an on-line poll where they choose which side of an issue they agree with, then learn which candidate supports that side. She also adds a couple extra sites as resources for teachers to use during this election cycle.

Technology is allowing for eductaion to become personilized and competency based. Online tools allow cirriculum to be delivered to the students and at peronalized pace with personal goals and structure. Students are different and I like the idea of allowing students to progress according to their ability.

I like this idea, too. Personalized pacing is key to my own learning.

I liked this article because it talked about podcasts and RSS feeds (push instead of pulling resources off the web), as well as some of the other tools. I don't always remember that in a pinch,instrucutional information videos are often available on YouTube. I also thought it was interesting that this author talked about knowing how to use social media sites ... and when not to.

This article presented reasons to use technology in the classroom. It also looked at obsticles that schools and teachers run into, as well as a discussion on student achievement . It provided operational goals as well as steps to achieve that goal.

I bookmarked this to elaborate on 2 other articles I found because it is a very nice and visual tool describing the concept of a "flipped classroom." As a homework hater this concept is very exciting to me that the student come to class ready to engage rather than expecting the student to carry on enthusiasm at home AFTER the lecture. There are diagrams and drawings which really help me comprehend and remember an article. There are also useful links at the end. I will revisit this site for more articles that are as visually pleasing.
