Great finds!

QR codes are everywhere and now, even in the classroom. this is a short but nice list of ideas. I could see using QR codes in a business classroom in many ways, these are just a few.

This is a great blog of easy-to-implement ideas to integrate technology into the classroom. It covers math, science, english and learning in general. It's really worth a look.

I love the Blooms taxonomy posters! Great ideas in this blog for sure!

The author of this blog has addressed the issue of gaming in the classroom. He says that until gaming creators produce educational games that rival the quality of entertainment-only games, they will only be supplemental tools for the classroom and not primary teaching tools. BUT he does list a few really cool games he already implements in his classroom. I played around with some and was impressed--and interested in rummaging around on their home websites.

A new study is being conducted to see whether or not use of 3D technology in the classroom enhances the learning experience. The results showed an increase in test scores, attentiveness, and student's ability to recall information. The study was conducted in the UK and involved 740 students age 10-13.

Some day I'll tell my grand-children about seeing my first 3-D movie with "special glasses." Great article.

This is a very interesting article written by John Merrow (Education Correspondent, PBS Newshour). He says that technology could be "breaking barriers" in education, but that it isn't being used to it's fullest potential with the increasing focus on high-stakes testing. Teachers are afraid to take risks with technology to help engage students because test scores might fall by the wayside.

Worried your kids spend too much time with their faces buried in a computer screen? Their schoolwork may soon depend on it. Education Secretary Arne Duncan called Tuesday for the nation to move as fast as possible away from printed textbooks and toward digital ones. Many countries outperform the US in terms of education and moving toward digital forms of education is a way the US can get back in the game, so to speak.

This article explains how a new school in Manhattan, New York teach their students entirely through video games! The program is designed for those students who are on a patch for a career in technology. The response were impressive and overall students really want to learn and stay engaged!

This article was very interesting. It explained the importance of using the web for learning. It discusses one classrooms successes with shifting learning to the web.

Educational technology journalist, Audrey Watters, explains that although a large percentage of people have cellular devices, only a small percentage of those are smart phones. She also speaks on the digital divide of only being able to access internet on your phone and not a home computer for a small percentage of Americans. She concludes that online learning places need to be expanded for mobile devices if we wish to include everyone in the digital age.

This website teaches you how to set up a blog for your child.  Would be a great list of things to consider when setting up a blog with students as well.  If we are going to encourage students to blog we should make sure we do it in a responsible way.

I would have thought that personal finance was part of every high school education. This article talks about how is it more emphasized in the proposed social studies standards.
