Is "friending" students inappropriate?

In my opinion, I think that it is inappropriate for teachers to "friend" their students. Inappropriate seems a little harsh to say but I do think that its better safe than sorry. Maybe once the student has moved on to high school and college it is okay to accept a friend request from them but even still whatever you post on the internet, you do it at your own risk.

I agree with Ashley, only I still think that even in high school I feel that teachers and students should not interact with one another unless it is school related. It seems that more often today teachers are getting fired or in major trouble by having some sort of relationships with there students. I know it doesnt just happen because they might be friends with them on facebook or something like that, but like Ashley said, "its better safe than sorry" and just stay away from temptations.

Inspiration is a great tool for students and teachers. It helps improve writing and thinking skills through graphic organizers and timelines.

What do you guys think? Should teachers sell their hard working lessons in order to furnish classrooms with books and whatnot and at the same time make a quick buck? Very controversial!

this website tells stories of teachers all over the states that have gotten in trouble with the schools they teach at by saying things on facebook that they thought were private to their friends. These stories make you think and realize that facebook is more than just a social place to find friends and keep in contact with them. We must be careful with what we say on the internet these days. You never know who is reading what you post.

This website is basically a website full of different game ideas, mostly for the elementary to middle grades. It's a great place to either find games to interact into a lesson or into the classroom, or a place to get inspired to think up some games of ones own to be utilized in the classroom setting.

This is a really interesting site that is like traveling all over the world, but staying at home. You can use the internet to learn about destinations, remember goals, play games, write a diary and so on. It seems like a strange site for teachers, but I actually think it would be really cool to use in a history class, a social studies class, or a foreign language class. Its like traveling the world, but staying in the same room. They can learn about the countries we're studying about and write some ideas or questions about it on their blog.

this is an article from NY Times talking about how you must need patience to be a middle school teacher. I think this is a good site because we need someone or something to tell us and remind us about teaching middle schooolers

This page allows you as a teacher to create a website. This allows other teachers to use it and help them gain knowledge in subjects that they might be teaching that are the same as you. Also it could help you out because other teacher could put some feed back on your website which will help you think of things that you might not have earlier.

This website allows the user to create their own comics. I think it would be really fun and definitely different to incorporate this tool into the classroom, perhaps by creating a comic in German and having students discuss it, or I can ask them questions about it. Or, they can create their own comic to show what they have learned. It's fun, creative and different.

It's crazy to think how this could be happening in any school in any district. Can we as teachers help to stop this?

This is also a great website for middle school english teachers. Its good for all teacher but especially english. There are suggestions from other teachers of lessons that have worked well for them.

This is the website we went over in the last class while in the library. It is a very informative and helpful site in regards to lesson plans. Whether you are looking for an exact lesson plan on a particular objective from the NC Standard Course of Study, or an idea to help you build your own. I think this as a great resource for ever NC teacher.
