I know alot of other people have already posted this link. But I just wanted to reiterate the importance of being involved in groups like this. Not only are you able to associate with other teachers in every state, but you're also able to discover new opportunites to enhance your career.
I posted this website because I think that it is a good example of how technology enhances communication between all levels of education (administration, teachers, parents and students). Most school systems have websites similiar to this.
This site has a familiar layout. Discussion boards, lesson plan ideas, etc. I think that this site has a lot to offer and can be a great resource for teachers.
This is a great way for teachers to communicate with one another and share ideas. I think that websites like these are so important for keeping lessons fresh and fun!
This site is similar to prezi. It is a new/better version of a PowerPoint. Teachers can use Eduslide to deliver elearning modules to students inside and outside the classroom. Modules can include multiple lessons with text, slides, flashcards, links to other sites, audio, and video.
This web 2.0 is alot like GoogleDocs. Writeboard is a free web-based tool that allows students to easily collaborate on a single document online. Different versions of the document are automatically tracked and saved so that old ideas are never lost and can be easily monitored by teachers. It would be incorporated well into an english class.
This popular online classroom community provides a free set of web-based tools for teachers who want to integrate web 2.0 into the classroom. Tools include an online assignment calendar, an online gradebook, an online attendance book, secure online messaging, and instant progress reports. Engrade is a great way for teachers to constantly stay in touch with students, parents, and administrators.
Cramberry is a unique site that makes it easy for students to learn and study new material through online flashcards. Students or teachers can make customized sets of cards that can be printed or studied online.
This is a great resource for students! They can review just about any english lesson. The website was designed by a popular textbook company, so the material is reliable and helpful.
This is another good article that addresses a very real issue. Students need guidance. They need to be taught that the decisions they make today affect their future.
This website is also a good guide for students to plan ahead. They can look at different career opportunities and what it will take to reach certain goals.
This is an interesting article about a topic all educators should be aware of. It is so important for teachers to understand every aspect of a students growth.
This website is through the Library of Congress. There are resources for teachers. This site is great especially for Language Arts and History teachers.
This website emphasizes the importance of teaching writing. Without this skill it will be difficult for students to succeed in all other academic areas. There are helpful pointers on how to teach writing and a current listing different workshops teachers can attend.
This website is an excellent place for teachers to get new ideas. There are videos that are similar to the conferences we looked at for our last assignment.
This article was posted earlier today on MSNBC's website. The author completely disagrees with teachers being involved with students on facebook at all. He states that Facebook is "a minefield for school districts".
This site is interesting because it actually sorts through the most popular sites that teachers use. It is a great place to start if you're not really sure what you're looking for.
This is a really great way for teachers (particularly within CMS) to stay connected with one another. It keeps them up to date on thier curriculum and new ways to teach it. I think if each school district had something like this, the educations system in our country would be excellent.
I am a student at UNCC. I plan to graduate in Spring '12 with a bachelors degree in Middle School Eduacation. I enjoy traveling, watching movies, meeting new people and singing in the choir at my church.
