Steve Wozniak likes to be the first person in line to buy the latest Apple products. This evening, the Apple co-founder and designer of the Apple I and II, was #1 on line outside the Apple store in Los Gatos, California to get the iPhone 4S. He tweeted about it and he'll be staying up all night. TechCrunch TV caught up with Woz and asked him why he does it. He explains what feature the new phone has that will change his life. Woz also tells us why "search engines should be replaced by answer engines."

Shocking news: teenagers are actually considering spending less time on Facebook and more time on Google+. Why, you ask? Apparently, 10% of teenage Facebook users would leave all together, and as the annoyances (the example of the "news ticker" is given), the changes to Zuckerberg's legacy aren't exactly going over well with the younger generation. They REALLY hate the news ticker. Google+ has no plans to build a feature like such. Could that be what's drawing them over? I think so. Facebook had a good run, but maybe next time they try and make some changes to their site, they should test it out on some teens first.

Late Friday evening, I tweeted out that, for some reason unbeknownst to me, Google's Web History tracking "feature" (the one that keeps tabs on every search you've made for sake of tailoring ads to your tastes and/or creeping you out) had seemingly been enabled on my account. This wouldn't be too strange in most cases - as an opt-out service, Web History is enabled for everyone by default. The problem? I'd manually disabled it years ago.

Instead of not only going against the law, but also running the risk of serious injury, Ford vehicles will now read you any texts you receive while you're driving. this is part of Ford's voice-activated technology, called Sync, and is installed in all 2012 vehicles except for the Ranger. BMW has also input a similar feature into their cars. This is a good idea for just about everyone who drives, especially people who are on their phones a lot, and once other vehicle manufacturers begin to put these in their cars as well everyone can stay safer on the road while still getting the job done.

It's no surprise Apple's servers are barely holding on to the mass of people coming home from work and school at around 3:00pm-4:00pm all trying to download the new iOS. This is the biggest software upgrade apple has ever done with at least 200+ new features. Well that is what they said on the Apple Website at least. People are concerned that if Apple can barely manage this wave of "Updaters" how will their servers do when all the iCloud subscribers will all be uploading their photos?

With the release of iMessage, one of the many new features that come with iOS 5, people are foreseeing the downfall of SMS. BBM has already started this downfall, and now with iMessage, of those millions of people who have an iDevice and a phone, i am sure they will most likely stick to the iDevice. These are the dark days for SMS

hen it comes to iOS 5, Siri and iCloud have certainly been hogging the spotlight. Beyond that, users en masse are also hot to get their hands on the new Notifications handling, Twitter integration, Safari optimizations and Reader, iMessage, Reminders, and Wi-Fi sync. But let's not forget there are other tweaks designed to make life easier for iPhone users.

Any Twitter users out there? Twitter is reportedly testing some new design changes, which features your main timeline becoming expandable, so you can see media and related information smack dab in the timeline, as opposed to beside the timeline or on another page. This can speed up and shorten the time you spend on Twitter, and improve users' feelings and experiences. Trying to get more people online, Twitter? If this tests well, we will see a new Twitter, and maybe a lot more people tweeting.

Apple has now patented the very popular "slide to unlock" feature. This makes every android phone ever made infringe it and apple could sue if they wanted to. 

PushBullet is a new computer and mobile app that allows notifications and other files to be transported from any device on the same account. The app comes with many features out of the box, such as the ability to share files between phones and computers with the click of a button, or having notifications on every device you own. The software is fairly new but it is being updated constantly and always changing. It can also be incorporated into stocks, or packages being delivered. I feel that this new app will solve many of the problems of software being seamless throughout devices. Windows media play, and other programs have tried the same thing and failed. I believe PushBullet can fix all of these problems.

The video by, Youtube channel ExtraCreditz, is about the issue of frequency space. All information that we use is transmitted through the air by different forms of radiation (radio waves, microwaves, etc.) The problem is we are running out of frequencies to use; there are only a limited band of wave lengths to transmit information with. These wavelengths can't be infinitely divided because they would end up cancelling each other out. This issue derives from the explosion in smartphone and mobile device popularity. These devices use 24x and 122x the spectrum of older cellphones respectively.  Along with other devices, we are running out of the amount of frequencies available to transmit information with. By 2014, there will no longer be any more spectrum to use. This is detrimental to any progress in developments of information sharing, such as cloud gaming. The demand for spectrum space in such ideas and innovations is simply to high with the current usage of the resource. Unless we can find a way to solve this 'Spectrum Crunch,' many future developments will not be possible. This is tagged under Portable Computing, as well as eLifestyle because this issue is born from the expansion of technology into everyday use. Before mobile technology became popular, the 'Spectrum Crunch' was never an issue. However, many companies are now racing to free up spectrum. Some solutions include freeing up spectrum used by television stations. But there is no definite answer. As the future in the world as leaders in an era of information and electronics, our generation must address problems like these to progress in the advancement of technology.

Many of us remember the PSN outage of April 2011. Sony blamed 'Anonymous,' a collective hacktivist group formed in 2003 on 4chan, after they found the Anonymous calling card 'We Are Legion' in their system. Anonymous is composed of individuals with the ideals of: 1. Freedom of Information 2. Freedom of Speech 3. Unregulated Internet Anonymous will only attack databases and websites only if provoked, and will not do so for monetary gain. The group has recently engaged in multiple attacks on international government databases. The article, by Casey Chan, is about the Anonymous digital attack on Israel, in retaliation after the Israeli government threatened to shut down Internet access and other telecommunications to the Palestinian people in the Gaza and "Occupied Territories. " The group attacked the Israel Foreign Affairs database and Bank of Jerusalem database, as well as DDos attacks on over 600 sites and theft of over 2000 email addresses and passwords. This attack has generated some controversy. Since the beginning of November, Israel has also received over 150 missile attacks from the Palestinians as well. Anonymous aids the Palestinians by sharing a 'Care Package,' instructions on what to do in the event Israel does sever the Internet connection. Anonymous has become quite influential on the Internet. This illustrates how important the Internet has become. The internet is not only a commodity, but a right to have. It has replaced forms of communication, entertainment, transactions, and more. A group of 'anonymous' users has been formed for the sole purpose of protecting it, with the will and capabilities to punish any party that wishes to disrupt it. As with every conflict, there are sides. Anonymous, in protection of Internet freedoms; and the Israeli government, that has been fighting a war for as long as anyone can remember. Who's side are you on?

This article is about the much anticipated (LOL) release of the blackberry 10. Due to news of it's release, stock prices have been high, but, when the blackberry was released, RIM saw their stocks drop. The article explains that this release is Blackberry's attempt to get back into the smartphone market -which is currently being dominated by Iphone and Android devices. The new blackberry features a new operating system that predicts what word you want,you can swipe to have it auto-completed.. sound familiar?....It also operates as both a business and personal phone. I think Blackberry's stock will continue to drop because of the increasing demand for iPhone and Android devices. Apple has been around for a long time and has developed consumer loyalty. Consumers trust the iPhone and will continue to purchase their phones, whereas Blackberry's consumer loyalty has been waning. Smartphones continue to make our lives easier, and are constantly changing. Blackberry's new phone may change the phone market.

This article is all about Google+ just got a total overhaul to its already-pretty-pretty design. The layout, navigation, and features have all been updated. There's a new navigation ribbon on the left side of Google+ with draggable icons for for your profile, photos, hangouts, and other Google+ apps. Google's also emphasized sharing large photos and videos, from anywhere on Google-YouTube, search, etc. There's also a new Twitter-like trending box in the upper right corner of your homescreen, which ties into the full-network-trending Explore page.

This video describes how the constitution of America opposes those warning labels on cigarette packaging. Although many believe the warning should stay, judges oppose by arguing that preventing companies to properly advertise a legal drug is against freedom of speech. 1/7 people smoke and I can emphasis with the judge in his decision.

Google is now saving all information and google searches, youtube, emails and even will be able to see any of your chats through gmail or google chat. this is another shocking video of peoples internet privacy being one step closer to be taken from us. the government knowing everything you do and making a profile on you is not just a scary future scenario, but a a real life situation.

This is an article that explains and acknowledges that evolution of the iPod. From the original iPod models, to the iPod shuffle, and now to the iPod touch, this Apple invention took everyone by surprise and through they years, it has made a historic mark in the world of technology. This evolution is impactful to our world because everyone at some time or another has owned or used some form of an iPod and despite its high price tag, this is nothing that stopped consumers to contribute to more than 220 million iPods sold, comprising over 70% of the market for all portable audio players. It is astonishing to see how far this one creation has come with each generation improving in memory, megapixels, features, ports, size, weight, and much more. The iPod is certainly a revolutionary piece of technology and hardware and as much contributions and success this device has made to the lives of many, it can only be assumed that another one is on it's way. The improvements and advancements to the external and internal design will present itself in various ways, that is sure to catch the eyes of millions of people worldwide, making another mark to the impact of the iPod. 

The Evolution of the iPod. This article talks about the numerous iPods sold throughout the past several  years. More than 220 million Ipods have been sold as of 2009. These iPods are always improving and changing size that seems to best suit people in many ways. Technology always has a huge impact on people and the way they  use things. These iPods have a social impact throughout and will continue to do so. Some people want an iPod that is strictly for music, and there are iPods for that. Whereas others would like more of a variety within, that's where the iPod touch is necessary. It contains a browser, email, camera, and Apps to play games on. 

When your friends get into your phone and know your password it can get quite annoying. Now Samsung has an app that allows you to open your phone with facial expressions. You can blink a certain amount of times and smile and then it will open. This amazing because there has never been something like this before. It relates to the course because you need the software and app to get this on your phone. I personally like this because it would be fun to unlock your phone with facial expressions. It makes a social impact because then it will be harder to hack your friends phone. Overall, I think this was a great idea Samsung brought up. 

On cell phones they have maps. They are creating a new one that shows the many stores that are in New York, and where they are specifically located. Another feature is by touching the stores name it show tweets from each store that promote their sales. They will be charging people to have these privileges. This relates to the course because it shows how technology is evolving.
