Phones are a very big thing in today's society.  A phone is almost similar to a computer, except that it fits into your pockets.  Phones can almost do anything, from calling, to social networking, to playing games, and watching movies.   Every phone user knows how precious their phone is to them, especially when it's the highly priced iPhone 5.  There are some negatives to phones however.  Of course, phones will need to be repaired every once in a while.  Unfortunately, the front glass, digitizer and LCD are all one component, which makes repair more expensive and harder.  However, there are some upsides!  A shattered screen is a very common problem for all Apple users, which is a really big positive.   This article proves that an iPhone 5 can be really financially beneficial for many consumers, because since it's easy to repair the screen, it makes it easier,  At the same time, it can be pretty costly, since everything else other (such as the LCD) than screen is still just as hard to replace.

This article is about how the operating system Windows 8, has passed 200 million license sales. Within the first six months of windows 8 release, it passed 100 million license sales. However after that, the progress stayed the same and there weren't any spikes in sales. Windows 8 is doing slower at its sales than windows 7, as windows 7 passed 240 million sales after its first year. The reason for the slowdown in sales is the general PC market. People haven't got used to the tablet style computers with a touch screen interface. Microsoft is slowly going to change that and bring back the keyboard and mouse UI. By the time April 2014 hits, windows 8 should have a new 8.1.1 update.

This article is about a channel on a game streaming site that allows users to 'join in'. The channel's creator, Polygon, has formulated a way in translating chat comments into control inputs. Over the past few days this Pokemon game has received over 35 000 players typing in commands all at the same time, causing lag and a lack of cooperation. However, despite the slow progress in leading the hero around the playing field, players are still determined to defeat the game's eight gym leaders. What is really amazing about this is that Pokemon even after all this time is very popular and people are still finding different ways to program and play this game. It also shows that you don't have to create a new advanced system or another pacemaker to be successful in computers.

This article tells us that people that have maxed out their memory from photos, videos and apps, are now able to purchase a 128GB microSD. SanDisk has said that the card will use faster read and write speed. they also said that they will be updating the memory on the Zone app for android, with adding an additional feature OptiMem, this will allow automatic transfers of older photos and videos to a microSD card. But OptiMem will monitor users. i think that the automatic transfer and monitoring is a good feature because it will save time transferring photos and videos to a SD card, because you will not have to transfer the photos to your computer than to the card. The monitoring is also good because it will inform whenever internal memory falls below predefined threshold, SanDisk said.

This article is talking about how a company in Las Vegas has opened up an electronic waste facility in Cincinnati. A new 50,000 square-foot facility was opened up in Northwest Boulevard in Cincinnati a few weeks ago. The goal of this facility is to recycle any old computers, monitors, TVs and any other electronic devices. This will help lessen and eventually stop E-Waste being dumped in landfills. The president of the company E-Waste said that if it has a battery or has been plugged in, bring it to our facility. I think this is a really good idea, because it will slowly stop all the junk being dumped in landfills and who knows where else, and now it can be recycled and maybe reused.

By now, everyone who is the slightest bit technologically inclined - or just interested in the news - has heard of the 'questionable' activities of the NSA. The National Security Agency, for the uninitiated, is a United States government agency that deals with national security and recently became the object of scrutiny after leaked information showed the massive data collection effort of the agency. This included: recording phone calls, ingoing and outgoing call identities, computer browsing, emails, key-logging and much much more. Needless to say, this was perceived as a tad scandalous and independent panels were brought in to assess the agencies spying program. Recently, the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board concluded that the metadata collected by the NSA was obtained through illegal means. Before you cheer, however, this sort of conclusion has been reached before and has only resulted in a promise to limit spying. This is bad because its merely a promise; a promise from a government who lied repeatedly, committed perjury, knowingly covered its tracks, and chased a citizen away with the threat of life in prison. Unfortunately, many people have since stopped caring because its no longer new news, but we need to stand up for our right to privacy and demand legal action to prevent such breaches of trust in the future.

For my excessively late article on computers and the environment i did it on a article discussing the issues of E-waste in the digital age. I love technology but I realize that the way that we dispose of our technology is unacceptable polluting other countries with the technology that we consider obsolete. We need to find a better way to dispose of our tech such as melting it down and re-using it as opposed to just shipping it to other countries to worry about.

Over the years Apple has come out with many amazing computers but now they made some improvements. they have improved the processor, graphics chips, making the speed faster, and also smaller computers but with so much storage. it seams that this computer has lots of amazing improvements and i defiantly would go and buy this.

Social media has exploded over the years and become a huge part of all of our lives. From facebook to twitter, from instagram to tumblr, everywhere we look there's some kind of social media being thrust in front of us. It has appeared so often that we have grown used to it. It's not unusual when someone stops to update their twitter or upload a picture of their lunch to instagram. There's that sense of excitement when your phone buzzes to tell you that you've been retweeted or your post has been liked. Social media has become part of our lifestyle and it's a great benefit to have. It allows you to keep in contact with relatives and friends and stay updated on the lives of those around you, but have we started to become too reliant on this advantage. This article had provided a look at various social media addicts, like 'the liker' and 'the constant checker' and despite the humorous aspect to it, you can still see a slightly more serious question behind it. This article brings to light an issue that we all knew existed, but never really paid much attention to. It had referred to the different types of reliance's on social media as addictions. It's a strong word to describe what most might usually think of as just small habits or pastimes, but maybe addiction is the right word to use. This post not only highlights the different types of social media addicts, but it also tells us the 'symptoms' and downfalls that can come out of each one and it raises some fair points. The article states that now is the best time to dive in to coding because it has never been cheaper/easier to do so, with the introduction of Codeacademy - used in ICS20 - in early 2012. In less than 5 months, Codeacademy had stated that it reached over 1 million registered accounts, including New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Many web-based companies, even the titans that are Facebook and Google, are always looking for people with coding experience. Jobs in programming are also more lucrative than most jobs, even at entry level positions (15 of 21 San Fransisco Developer Bootcamp students were offered jobs in coding, with an average annual pay of $79 000.) The industry is severely lacking in female programmers as well, with only 1:10 ratio of women to men in the industry. This relates to Economics, eLifestyle and ultimately the ISC20 class because as the industry develops, there will be a higher demand for people with experience in coding; 2012 has been widely concerned as the best year for coding because many people who start coding now will most likely be secured for a positon right out of University, which can be very securing to young people who may not be sure of their future. Evidentally, the title says it all; if you are looking for a job, it would be wise to pick up coding because this a newly establihed market; most jobs in computers didn't exist twenty years ago so many people believe that coding will eventually become a societal necessary education, like math or grammar skills. This article shows how we are in a somewhat technological revolution, where we are creating new jobs where all the others are already full.

So, why should we be interested in all of these arbitrary facts? We understand that as smartphone prices become exponentially less expensive and other parts of the world gain access to data services, mobile broadband continues to grow at a rapid pace. There is a global trend from fixed-broadband to mobile-broadband subscriptions, simply because it is more cost-effective. As global bandwidth increases we can supposedly pump an infinite amount of data to billions of customers around the world. In July EPEAT a environment organization that allow computers to be sold only if they can be recycled properly has stop Apple from selling the MacBooks because to make a longer battery life Apple glued the battery cell to the aluminum shell which makes it impossible to take it apart according to iFixit. IFixit said he couldn't take the battery cell out with spill any of the battery acid. A few days later Apple fixed the problem. Now EPEAT has now given Apple the certificate for the MacBook Air and there other laptops are still being tested and also fixed other of its devices. If EPEAT didn't test Apple laptops they could of caused many environmental problems. Also EPEAT is also testing other companies' laptops, tablets, etc. Apple should have tested if this would have happened and should have fixed it instead of selling their products with this problem.
