Annamaria Lusardi uses her blog to explain her day to day thoughts on the state of financial literacy in the nation. Her thoughts are generally in reaction to the current state of financial literacy or with criticism that she has heard for or against financial literacy. Her posts view financial literacy through the lenses of youth, as she is for financial literacy education in school. also, she discusses the state of retired peoples financial literacy. This source is very useful becasue it is usually very up-to-date, and the blogger has done a lot of research on the subject.

One possibility for those interested in sports to consider is the concept of physical literacy, here called "movement literacy," the idea that just as our minds learn to function at higher levels and acquire new skills, our bodies must do the same. However, between phyical education budgets being cut and increasing importance placed on technology, our understanding of movement literacy is decreasing. This article describes the results of the Federal Reserve Financial Literacy Test on high school seniors. It explains that the results of the most recent test are the worst in the history of the test. The article does a great job linking the poor results with the current mortgage crisis, and expresses the importance of financial literacy in consumers today. The article is very useful in providing concrete data on the state of our country's financial literacy.

The article discusses financial-literacy programs at universities and colleges in the United States. Programs like Texas Tech University's help its students master the basics of budgeting, saving, and not buying what they can't afford. These programs are especially important as colleges grapple with rising costs and an economic downturn in the country. The author states that financial literacy affects student retention, productivity, and mental health, and may also generate good will in a time when colleges are being criticized for repeatedly raising tuition, fees, and housing costs. This article explores the differences in literacy experiences between males and females. Students in particular. It is relatively easy to read, and is about 10 pages long. It seems to be geared towards teachers, but we as students, researching literacy, can gain a lot as well.

This article focuses the decline in reading in this generation. It is a very general topic of literacy and does not focus on nutrition at all. It is useful to me for statistics. Even though this article is long, only a portion of it directly discusses television and literacy. The article showed that children who watched more than two hours of television had behavioral issues, such as not being able to sit still or pay attention for an extended period during their adolescence. However, it did not prove to be of significance in older years.

The article addresses the idea of "religious illiteracy" in the United States as of early 2007. The author relates the lack of general religious knowledge among his students at Boston University. He believes that religious illiteracy is more dangerous than cultural illiteracy because religion is the "most volatile" constituent of culture. He notes that some knowledge of the world's religions is essential in processing messages from politicians, the media, and education. He believes that, in the interest of civics, all U.S. undergraduate students should be required to take an academic religious studies course. It uses draws upon such sources such as probate records, and diaries from actual citizens of the time. However; considering the sources it draws upon, one should consider the time frame in which the source documents are from.

The author believes that music not only helps children learn to read but also to love it. Her process includes teaching the children a tune, then lyrics and finally giving them the written lyrics to read. She states that children have a disposition to rhyme and melody which makes singing and music the perfect tool.

This article shows the average comprehension of preschool students. This is important because it gives a base for my research. In order to see the affects of educational television I need to know how normal preschoolers literacy is without these types of shows.

In the article by Annie M. Moses, she talks about how television plays a vital role in so many young children's lives. Her studies showed that there were messages in children's programs. Even though it is a longer piece, it shows a very excellent case study to prove her point.
