Web. 16 Nov. 2010.\n\nSince the 1970s, the Miami Design Preservation League has been working to preserve the many Art Deco buildings in South Beach. The efforts were successful and South Beach is now a historical district. It was both interesting and informative to read that pieces of Art Deco are now considered historical and are being protected. The article mentions that some buildings have begun to deteriorate with age. Examples of historical pieces of Art Deco are included with many photographs.

This article dictates South Beach, the Art Deco Historical District, in great detail. It descibes the weather, the population and the hussle and bussle of the South Beach streets. A brief history of the city is included, which is helpful in understanding Art Deco's roots. This article looks at Art Deco from a movie and photography point of view. It describes the best places and times to truly capture the beauty and originality of Art Deco

Heavy metal, punk, hip hop, and reggae are each the music of protest and in mamy cases sonsidered immoral in the Muslim world. This music may also turn out to be the soundtrack of a revolution unfolding across the world. Why, despit sovermental attempts to control and censor the music do these musicians and fans keep playing and listening? Partly, of course because of self expression, but also because , in this region, everything is political.Heavy Metal Islam is a surprising, wildly entertaining foray into a historically authoritarian region where music just might be the true democratizing force.

Grudin, Anthony. "A Sign of Good Taste: Andy Warhol and the Rise of Brand Image Advertising." Oxford University Press 33. Ohiolink. Web. 16 Nov. 2010. Andy Warhol's art was called "tasteless trash" by Kirk Varnedoe. However, Grudin believes that statement is very misleading. He states that, "Cambells, Brillo, and Coca Cola were being targeted at the working class in the late 50's, early 60's, and they were more likely to consume these brand named items." Warhol's recreation of these items show the strengths and weaknesses of a marketing strategy that is still relevant in today's society. People think that his artwork is often directed toward everyone, and that it shows that there is no class system. Grudin states that "the crisis of the brand image has been recognized as an important contributing element in the reception of Warhol's work and in it's broader historical context."

Adamson, Walter L. "Contexts and Debates Fascinating futurism: The historiographical politics of an historical avant-garde." Modern Italy 13.1 (2008): 69-85. Academic Search Complete. EBSCO. Web. 16 Nov. 2010. Contains descriptions of a couple distiguishable groups of futursts and elaborates on there differences. The article also gives adaquate background information on people like Marinetti as well as for the futurist and fascist movements themselves. The author indicates that there may be some confusion in separation the fascist and futurist movements but the author attemps to correct this issue.

Byrne, L. "Picasso, Guernica, History." Art Book 14.3 (2007): OhioLINK: Electronic Journal Center. Web. 1 November 2010. Byrne reviews a work by Fransisco Calvo Serraller and Jorge Semprun on Picasso's Guernica. The painting was painted for the Spanish Pavilion at the International Exhibition in Paris in 1937. Guernica is a summary of the wars of the past one hundred years (Byrne 13). Serraller's thinks that the painting is one of the greatest paintings of all time because it was created out of "historical tradition" genius which he believed only Picasso and a select few were capable of.

"POSTIMPRESSIONISM." (n.d.): Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia. EBSCO. Web. 19 Nov. 2010. This source is able to provide a historical background of the postimpressionist artistic movement. The encyclopedia is a great place to start when trying to gain more knowledge about anything. The description they give about postimpressionism is both helpful and informative. This artistic style was used by Van Gogh. The movement took place during the last two decades of the 19th century.

This is not a citable scholarly source, but an article listing other sources of information about hip-hop, making it a good find for those researching the topic. The OhioLINK abstract: This bibliographical essay describes a wide array of resources relating to hip-hop culture and rap music, including definitions and overviews, bibliographies, discographies, encyclopedias, historical and biographical information, articles and databases, sound and video recordings, lyrics, information about rap songs, hip-hop terminology and slang, photographs, Web sites, and research collections. The final section is devoted to collecting hip-hop and rap materials for libraries. While the essay is primarily intended to serve as a guide for music librarians who provide reference service and library instruction, and to those with collection development responsibilities, it may also prove useful to educators, students, and those beginning to conduct research on hip-hop or rap.

Monet concieved his paintings as the expression of his unique perceptions-they would be the expression of what he personally would have felt. This book goes through three "times" of Monet's life. From there, it talks both about the historical aspects of the time and the inspirations Monet has and what he was painting.
